This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice physiotherapy via an accelerated programme which builds on prior learning and experience. It is a two year course with an exciting and varied mix of academic and clinical learning.

Our course is the only Physical Therapy programme outside North America which is accredited by CAPTE. Therefore, each year we welcome a number of students from the United States and Canada as well as students from other countries who wish to practice in the USA to this course.

Course detail

There is a firm emphasis on the development of clinical reasoning and practical skills throughout the course.

Academic modules have been developed to allow students to develop strong core assessment and treatments skills and a deeper knowledge of core areas such as exercise prescription and health improvement theory. Integrating the core practice areas of cardiovascular respiratory, neurology and musculoskeletal encourages students to think holistically about their patients to embed this in their practice.

Placements and accreditation

On completion of the course, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council and membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

Students undertake six placements which are spread over the duration of the course. The final placement is an elective which is arranged by students themselves; this can be undertaken in any country if the required conditions are met.

Careers

Students who complete their MSc (Pre-registration) Physiotherapy degree at RGU and wish to pursue working within the United States are welcome to apply to upgrade their MSc to a Doctorate of Physiotherapy (DPT).

The involvement of industry in the design of the course and an industry-based project (limited number and subject to availability), maximise employment prospects. Students on the MSc Instrumental Analytical Science Drug Analysis and Toxicology course will benefit from the use of modern analytical equipment, study visits, guest lecturers and workshops. The MSc was designed in liaison with Industry and as such there is a strong emphasis on the applied analytical techniques used within the analytical sector.

A limited number of our MSc research projects are undertaken externally.
