As a student you will benefit from experienced teaching staff who individually support you towards your own professional aims as you study a range of forensic psychology topics.

Visiting speakers and partners contribute specialist insights from working in a range of forensic settings, on issues surrounding the commission, detection and prosecution of sexual offences as well as the management and treatment of sex offenders. Assignments are designed around typical tasks faced by forensic psychologists in professional settings, such as preparing expert witness
statements and case formulations. At dissertation stage, students explore their professional or academic interests and can make use of technologies such as EEG and virtual reality equipment. Past and current students have presented research at international conferences, making an impact in the world of professional forensic psychology before graduation.

Alongside modules that examine specialist academic themes, students also undertake an individual or group project with a host organisation, exploring the application of research evidence to effective professional practice.

The course benefits from strong staff and student links with a wide range of bodies which offer opportunities for collaboration including: Gloucestershire Constabulary; the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Gloucestershire; Restorative Gloucestershire; charities providing support and training around domestic violence, homicide, stalking and sexual offences; and community organisations active in crime prevention and reduction initiatives.

You will gain the skills to work in an exciting and rewarding profession that is currently seeking recognition, regulation and protection in the same way as other allied health professions. The course prepares sports science graduates to work as Graduate Sports Therapists, delivering a full set of competencies within the elite and amateur sectors, from soft tissue therapies and joint mobilisations, to pitch-side first aid, taping and strapping. Working with teams and individuals, you will have the skills to rehabilitate athletes to full sports participation as well as examine and assess injuries for diagnosis or onward referral.
