The programme addresses what has become a significant need in the field by offering an innovative interdisciplinary approach to Creative Arts and Mental Health. The programme is taught by mental health professionals and specialists in live art, performance art, theatre and performance history. This MSc seeks to attract professionals in education, artists, and mental health practitioners who would like to learn in more breadth and depth how art and performance can be used to understand experiences of mental health and illness, and how arts offers critique and challenge to conventional practices that may be evidence based but still risk disempowerment. Art enables the stories of individuals and groups to be better embraced. Students will be offered core modules in mental health and in performance and then select optional practice-based modules in arts-based research and arts-programme evaluation and in live art and performance.

The course is delivered by experts in the centre for psychiatry and the drama department at QMUL, both leading research departments that rank amongst the top in the country.

Advances in technology and informatics have fuelled an exponential growth in genomics research which in turn has transformed our understanding of disease biology and opening new avenues in drug discovery and patient treatment. Genomics has strong potential to impact patient care but will require highly trained professionals to implement it both at the level of the health care system, the pharmaceutical industry, and the broader biomedical sector.

The MSc Programme in Genomic Medicine is designed to provide healthcare professionals with a multi-disciplinary perspective on genomics and its application in medicine in particular rare genetic diseases, cancer and infection.

The overall aim of the programme is to offer participants the knowledge and training in genomics required to provide, develop and advance specialist scientific services around genomic medicine within healthcare systems. The programme will work closely with Genomics England to train students to analyse high quality genomic data and offer them the possibility to interact with international experts in this field. Working directly with patient data from the 100,000 genomes project will offer students hands on experience on how genomics may be applied to diagnosis and patient treatment. The course will offer opportunities for research and work experience projects in the participating NHS Trusts under UCL Partners.

The MSc Global Health, Law and Governance programme will introduce students to some of the key international frameworks and instruments in global health. It will analyse the international organisations and legal instruments that influence national public health policies, and will critically examine the World Health Organization, the World Trade Organization and key international conventions and protocols. It will incorporate global governance and global health governance, helping set the frame for how governance interfaces with the making of laws (and also regulatory regimes and treaties) and their enforcement or implementation. Global pandemic surveillance and management, key issues around the control and ownership of viral material used for production of vaccines, and the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control are all examples of important issues in this field.

The Global Health, Law and Governance masters is part of a wider programme of study in international and global health. Underpinned by a commitment to the principles of social justice and fairness, these programmes will provide students with an understanding of the significance of the current global challenges for health care and public health, and will offer a multidisciplinary focus on global public health and primary care in a time of increasing health inequalities.

Queen Mary is committed to teaching and researching global health, and has assembled for this initiative an experienced team from across the university, led by professors who have previously established and run successful and highly prestigious programmes both online and on campus. Prof Allyson Pollock is one of the UK's leading public intellectuals in medicine, and is a world authority on global health and public health policy. Prof Trish Greenhalgh is one of the international stars of general practice, a leading educationalist in international primary health and enormously influential in primary health research. The programmes are based in the Centre for Primary Care and Public Health, which is responsible for leading global health teaching in the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, the leading UK medical school for global health in the undergraduate medical curriculum.
