Our flexible Master's programme will give you a strong grounding in core disciplines of accounting and finance. This masters aims to provide the theoretical frameworks and practical skills to become an effective accountant. 

You will learn how accounting and financial information is used for decision making and how it integrates with the wider business environment. Throughout your studies you will follow a highly international curriculum which will be relevant to both home and international students.

The technical aspects of our Master's have been aligned to meet requirements of the accountancy profession. This includes International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) developed by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). You will develop your practical skills by analysing real data sets in software platforms.

You will be encouraged to develop critical and evaluative thinking and judgement through exposure to contemporary issues in the field of accounting and finance.

You also have the opportunity to pursue your chosen areas of specialism through option courses and a dissertation. Our teaching is supported by current research and hands-on financial problems.

It provides a firm grounding in research methods applicable to the study of sustainable agriculture and the intellectual tools for understanding sustainable agriculture systems. The courses combine theoretical approaches and empirically based learning from case studies of real projects and agricultural scenarios.

Teaching will focus on case studies from NRI's corporate experience of looking at how research into agricultural issues, both in the natural and social sciences, can be translated into knowledge and products that have real impact on increasing the effectiveness of agriculture in delivering food security and enhancing livelihoods for all stakeholders. Taught content will equip the graduate with the expertise needed to work independently in a range of areas of current commercial plant science, at supervisory or management level, or in applied research. As well as ensuring a thorough grounding in basic science and horticultural technology, the modern molecular biology content is particularly relevant, since new technologies are rapidly entering the commercial arena. The independent research project will be set in a research institution or appropriate local industry, and will be designed around the student's interests and expertise.

The MSc focuses on methods used in the evaluation and improvement of conventional crops that feed the growing world population, but also alternative protected crops and ornamentals along with postharvest management, business and environmental concerns, and plant stress and disease in a changing climate.

This programme provides technology-based graduates with the opportunity to develop an area of technological expertise through a major research project. It also gives students understanding and skills in the methodology of research and the experience of a critical investigation of an approved topic at a high level.

Taught courses are chosen from the School's broad portfolio and should be appropriate to the student's project area. The student must undertake a research methodology course as the basis for the project. The project itself is one of the student's free choices, within the constraints imposed by his or her education, training and experience. It is designed to be very practical, to provide more time than is traditionally allowed for such a project and to emphasise the work-based aspects of the subject matter.

This programme is for individuals already working in environmental conservation who seek to broaden or update their knowledge, and for graduates who wish to become professionally involved in conservation and environmental management.

Professional and conservation organisations have advised on the content of this degree, ensuring strong links between the programme and the needs of the conservation industry and it has received two awards for 'Best Practice' from the CIEEM. The programme is structured around six compulsory courses that integrate theoretical and practical aspects of contemporary conservation and environmental management.

Students develop an interdisciplinary understanding of modern-day conservation and environmental management, and gain a practical understanding of ecological techniques and strategies. They also acquire the skills to critically apply environmental management techniques and methods to practical situations and to understand decision making processes and the underlying criteria and values. This programme has been developed in response to the growing demand for facilities management professionals with a mix of abilities from within the property and construction industries. Facilities management covers multiple disciplines and activities, enabling practitioners to be responsive to the needs of a particular building, its functional and organisational objectives.

The programme is flexible enough to enable students to tailor their studies to their particular needs and interests, thereby recognising the broad and diverse nature of the facilities management role, both within the UK and internationally.

Students develop a holistic view of the needs of the corporate environment and enhance their expertise in key areas of competence. They are also able to advance their personal transferable skills in areas such as information technology and telecommunications.

The aim of the programme is to develop students' abilities to co-ordinate the physical workplace with the people and work of the organisation, in order to facilitate the effective and efficient use of business-related property.

The university has invested £76 million in a new building to house the campus library, TV studios and academic facilities for disciplines including architecture, design and construction.
