The course includes a number of distinctive modules e.g. the Accounting Theory module addresses the underlying principles that lead to accounting conventions; the International Finance module examines the financial management of multinational corporations in a global environment. It takes you to the frontier of modern and most effective approaches of managing financial and political risks and the techniques used to hedge foreign currency exposures by multinational corporations, as well as taking advantage of the international capital markets to raise finance. The aerospace industry is one of the UK's most successful industrial sectors, with its involvement in major international project groups including Airbus, Rolls Royce, British Aerospace to name but a few. Not every university that teaches engineering includes Aeronautical Engineering in its portfolio, but Staffordshire University is proud to be running a new and innovative MSc award in this area which started September 2012.

The MSc in Aeronautical Engineering builds upon the success of the undergraduate Aeronautical programme which has been running at Staffordshire for over ten years. The MSc is an award for the graduate engineer (who will have usually studied a BEng(hons) in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent, or possibly a BSc(hons) in Aeronautical Technology) and who wishes to expand and deepen their knowledge of aeronautical engineering.

The MSc covers a broad range of areas including fixed wing and rotary aircraft, subsonic and supersonic flight regimes, aircraft propulsion systems, aircraft control systems, materials, etc. As well as taught classes, students use our extensive range of laboratories which include industry standard design and analysis software, including Pro Engineer, Phoenix CFD, ANSYS FEA, etc.

The myriad of threats towards these networks are changing constantly. Security polices and mitigation techniques have to keep pace with these threats in order to allow genuine traffic out of and into our corporate networks whilst controlling the malicious users.

This course will give you the knowledge, lifelong learning skills and enthusiasm needed to support and manage both corporate networks and security systems. As part of the award you will participate in the CISCO Networking Academy Programme and you'll prepare for the widely accepted industry CCNA Security and Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certifications.

We encourage you to complete a one-year industrial placement as part of this course. You could work with small enterprises or large companies like Cisco, Amazon and Thomson Reuters. This sandwich course will provide knowledge of the latest cyber security principles, practices, tools and techniques, taught by a team of specialist staff in purpose-built cyber security laboratories. Graduates will be Cyber-operators, able to use ‘information’ as a defensive or offensive weapon.

Today, Cyber-Operators are required to have an ‘enriched’ background drawing elements of practical experience from fields as diverse as sociology, psychology, networks and network security, computer science and computer security, information management and information security, software engineering and reverse engineering, and of course, the law.

We have a diverse number of placements with companies from the security industry, high tech crime units and government organisations.

It is impossible to describe this course, because it is different for every single student. You are the person who decides what you want to do (as long as it’s at a postgraduate level of study).

All you need to get started is a project that you want to tackle over the course. This could be a book or film project, it could be compiling a portfolio targeted for a specific job, it could be work for an exhibition or it could be something you always wanted to find out more about (and these are just a few examples).

Armed with your proposal we will find you a subject-specific mentor, who will help you put together a Learning Contract, which is your own bespoke course design, which will allow you to complete your project. You can use your own experience and interests to explore a subject through work-experience. You can also use the resources of the faculty –whether it be teaching and research expertise or workshop facilities – to help you. You even pick your own title for the course.

The award will provide the knowledge of the latest cyber security principles, practices, tools and techniques, taught by a team of specialist staff in purpose-built cyber security laboratories. Graduates will be Cyber-operators, able to use ‘information’ as a defensive or offensive weapon.

Today, Cyber-Operators are required to have an ‘enriched’ background drawing elements of practical experience from fields as diverse as sociology, psychology, networks and network security, computer science and computer security, information management and information security, software engineering and reverse engineering, and of course, the law.

We have a diverse number of placements with companies from the security industry, high tech crime units and government organisations.

In January 2014 Staffordshire University announced exciting plans to create one main city campus in Stoke-on-Trent. This is to confirm this course will move from our Stafford Campus to Stoke-on-Trent Campus from Summer 2016.

Course content

Throughout the course you will be invited to attend guest lectures delivering workshops and conducting seminars with the students. Our visiting tutors are national and international security experts.

You will also have an opportunity in achieving industry recognised certification in Certified Ethical hacking.

Our purpose-built state of the art security laboratory offers each student a unique experience in enhancing your skills and knowledge in Cyber Security. As a result of winning a recent £5 million STEM bid, you will benefit from state of the art hardware resources, which will enhance your learning.

The marketing profession has undergone a significant change in the knowledge and skill base required to meet the needs of a constantly evolving digital environment.
