This programme is offered on a full time basis (one year) commencing September. It is designed for honours (2.1 or better) graduates in accounting. It is aimed at those wishing to further their studies in accounting and who may wish to prepare for a career as a professional accountant.

Those commencing the programme with exemption from CAP 1 CAI will, on successfully completing the programme and meeting other requirements, be eligible for exemption from Cap 2 CAI.

It will also equip its graduates to successfully complete the examinations of the other major accounting bodies (ACCA, CIMA CPA (I)) operating in Ireland.

The programme will also develop the skills and competencies required to undertake independent research in the areas of accounting and related areas.

Course Content

At the end of semester two all students work on an advertising campaign using a real brief supplied by a client, which they develop and execute in teams, or 'advertising agencies', that 'pitch for the account'; at the end of the course.

Applications are invited for this intensive two years full-time programme for finance graduates wishing to pursue a career in the financial services industry or a career in the finance function. Semester 3 of the taught Programme must be taken in the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Moscow. All Modules are taught through English. Students may study for longer than one Semester in the Financial University but must study for at least One Semester in each Institution in order to be eligible for a Dual Award.

Course Content

Studies in Semester 1 cover the subjects of Strategy, Marketing, Technology and Operations Management, Venture Finance and Law. Such accelerated learning is designed to give participants the conceptual tools needed to analyse business situations and to undertake business planning. In tandem, participants engage in the initial stages of work on two separate substantive elements of the programme within a seminar/workshop format: (i) the product development project and business development plan; and (ii) the dissertation.

Building on learning from the first semester, studies in Semester 2 cover the subjects of Creativity, Marketing, Technology and Operations Management, Accounting, Law and Taxation. Work also continues on the product development project and business development plan, with support available through weekly group sessions with the module advisors for the 12 class weeks of the semester. Participants then work on their own through to submission of the joint project/plan document in early September. In tandem, participants move to greater engagement with their dissertation research and have the opportunity to work 1-to-1 for a total of four hours with an assigned advisor up to mid-June, at which point participants work on their own through to submission of the dissertation in early September. Submission of both the joint project/plan document and the dissertation marks the end of the programme.

This exciting new full-time programme has been designed to provide an opportunity for quantity surveying graduates to become educated in specialised areas of their profession that are not generally covered in great detail in their undergraduate degrees.It has been developed in response to considerable demand for an additional qualification and specialisation in the discipline. The primary emphasis of the programme is on developing the knowledge and skills of construction cost management of building services installations and civil engineering works.The programme is presented within the School of Real Estate and Construction Economics in the Faculty of the Built Environment in DIT. The total intake of students each year will be approx. 20-25 students. Because of the applied nature of the programme, it is expected that, initially at least, the students will come with undergraduate qualifications in quantity surveying, construction economics, construction economics & management, or equivalent.The content of the programme, delivered over 1½ years (3 Semesters) full-time includes subjects pertinent to the practice of quantity surveyors and construction economics professionals, but of a more specialised nature than those normally covered in their undergraduate degrees. The programme’s focus is strongly oriented towards the development of the underlying knowledge and the skills involved in construction cost management, especially of the building services and civil engineering work. This programme should be of particular interest to international students who want to study on a full-time basis in Ireland.
