What’s it like to study a Masters in Montreux?
Montreux has a population close to 30,000, many of whom are international (although the main language spoken is French). The town serves as a useful gateway to the rest of Europe, only a short journey from Geneva. The location is perfect for those who enjoy walking, hiking, and skiing – the beautiful city streets, countryside trails and nearby Alps offering spectacular views throughout the year.
Montreux has a proud association with European art, literature and music – the Montreux Riviera was a destination for Romantic authors such as Lord Byron and Mary Shelley, and Montreux hosts many music festivals, including its famed Montreux Jazz Festival. The rock band Queen had a studio in the city, and a statue of Freddie Mercury in the town marks this association. This isn’t the town’s only association with popular music, either: the burning of the Montreux Casino served as inspiration for Deep Purple’s Smoke on the Water.
Whether you’re studying Music, Architecture or fire safety, Montreux provides an interesting and attractive destination for a Masters abroad.
