What’s it like to study a Masters in Madrid?

Much of Madrid’s history has been shaped by its place at the heart of Spanish political life, having been the home of the Spanish monarchy before later becoming the constitutionally-appointed state capital and seat of the modern Spanish parliament (the Cortes Generales).

As a Masters student you’ll live and study in one of Europe’s most important capital cities. Attractions include some of Spain’s best museums, palaces and art galleries, housing artefacts associated with the Spanish monarchy as well as Madrid’s many other famous historical residents (including the painters Francisco Goya and Pablo Picasso as well as the author Miguel de Cervantes). The Prado Museum in Madrid is widely considered to be one of the world’s finest art galleries, while the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía has an outstanding collection of Spanish modern art.

Madrid’s nightlife is legendary, offering a beguiling mix of cosy cocktail bars, flamenco clubs and nightclubs that are open well into the early hours. As you’d expect, the tapas scene in Madrid is also excellent.

Madrid is one of Europe’s most significant sporting centres and is home to two of the most successful football clubs in the world: Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid, who have a long and bitter rivalry.
