From a cultural perspective, the Master in Car Interior Design and User Experience covers subjects such as the history and trends of Car Interior Design and the study of perception. Students improve their skills and techniques in the visualization and communication of ideas, forms and concepts. The laboratory of communication occurs with the practice in the advanced levels of 2D and 3D Photoshop and other industry-specific programs. The environment of the cockpit is examined in all its functionality. The user and his needs are always at the center of the project proposal. This means improving and facilitating the driving of the vehicle, the passenger compartment comfort in all aspects (functional, aesthetic, sound, touch) and its security.

Much importance is given to human-machine interface. The important flow of visual information, sound messages or control actions through devices and controls located on the dashboard in front of the driver requires a careful and intelligent planning that facilitates the interaction between the driver and the car as a function of maximum driving safety.
Over the past decade, the heavy investments made by the most influential international car manufacturers have greatly contributed to the research and technological
development of the passenger that, in its evolution, has changed the real idea of the car, considered primarily for its aesthetics design in the past. comfort and aesthetics have become increasingly important as the range of devices and interfaces of the latest generation, together, offer the driver a unique mobility experience often conveyed through the philosophy of a brand.

The curriculum includes a study of the marketing strategy: user profile, market analysis. The student is measured with the reality in a series of professional workshops held with the support of companies in the industry.

The final project is the synthesis of all the experiences, where the laboratory results and knowledge merge together inthe design of the interior of a vehicle according to the brief provided by the industry partner.

The course covers three main key areas: the history of fashion and applied arts, fashion design and production, marketing and communication strategies, with an increasing level of complexity. Evaluation of results is based on their consistency with the objectives and on the social, cultural, ethical and economic impact towards stakeholders and the reference system, even on a long-term basis, in relation to contemporary trends of taste, style and market.

In addition to the experimental stage that introduce students to the development of creative ideas and knowledge of the technical and technological tools useful for their representation and realization, the course covers all the aspects related to the history of fashion, applied arts, design and different features of contemporary creative expression.

Laboratory activities and innovative project teaching methodology related to the design and production (from the formulation of an idea of fashion products to its formal, functional, ethical, social evaluation) involve students through individual or group projects, workshops, tutorials, case studies, use of simulative techniques and role playing. The impact of the brand on the target audience and the different aspects of traditional communication and web based fashion collections on the market will be examined, evaluating new tools and perspectives, such as the environmental impact.

The postgraduate course culminates in a dissertation, a final project aimed at checking the skills acquired by the students during the Masters programme. This project involves the launch of a new product or a new collection, where the students highlight the processes and define communication, image and style strategies.

The major civilisations of the ancient world still shape global culture today, with the Roman Empire spanning Europe, Africa and Asia. Our MA in Ancient History enables you to gain an advanced understanding of ancient culture, whether you focus on literature, thought, art or religion, and includes your second term spent in Rome, the heart of the Roman Empire.

A key focus of the MA is on the cities of the Roman Empire, especially its capital city, through its novel Spring Term component taught at Kent’s Rome centre in collaboration with the American University of Rome. This allows you to gain direct access to Roman sites, museums and architecture, in order to see how the Roman Empire has shaped the city to this day. There is also a version of this programme that allows you to study at Canterbury only.

The programme allows you to develop your research skills and to become by the end of the degree an independent researcher, well equipped for future work for a PhD or to undertake research outside academia. The programme begins by focusing on research skills, which you study alongside either an option module or a language module (in ancient Greek or Latin). For the Spring Term, you choose two option modules that reflect the research interests of staff within the Department of Classical and Archaeological Studies (http://www.kent.ac.uk/secl/classics/index.html).

In the summer, you write a dissertation of up to 15,000 words with advice from one of our experts to demonstrate the skills that you will have gained during your MA.

This is an ideal programme for graduates of history, ancient history, classics or the wider humanities, wanting to gain practical experience in applying their expertise and benefit from the experience and confidence gained from living and studying overseas.

Course structure

You take one core module and one optional module during your first term in Canterbury and your second term in Rome. Over the course of these two terms you discuss with the course director your ideas and plans for your 15,000-word dissertation. The MA in History of Art (with a Term in Rome) provides a structured introduction to postgraduate study of the history and philosophy of art.

It includes a term in Rome where we run the MA with the American University of Rome (who provide accommodation and facilities). A range of themes and approaches are considered in this MA with a particular focus on medieval, Renaissance and Baroque art in Italy. The first term is taught in Canterbury.

During the term in Rome, this MA focuses on the art of Rome with a core course that spans almost two millennia and examines the changing face of the eternal city. This core spends more time on the period 1400-1700, which is also the period from which a second course is chosen from a range of topics. You will study the art of Rome first hand, visiting relevant sites and museums, with options to study the history of Rome and specific artists. Kent staff are present for part of the spring term in Rome to ensure continuity of academic guidance and pastoral support.

The programme is intended for graduates in art history and other arts subjects. It gives you the opportunity to pursue your interest in visual art at advanced level, to develop a high level of expertise in topics in history and philosophy of art and to prepare for doctoral research in history of art.

This seminar on Michelangelo examines the work of the Renaissance master; his sculpture, painting, architecture and literary production. His works are investigated within their specific historical context, focusing on issues of commission, iconography, censorship, biography, historiography and aesthetics. An excursion to Florence is also planned. Beyond a complete comprehension of Michelangelo’s work, the course aims toward a mastery of art historical research skills, the evaluation of current scholarship and independent critical thought on art.

The Master in Animation Design aims first of all to consolidate and upgrade skills in animation concept design with a focus on the topics, contents and styles that characterize the current production. It identifies some points that focuses on the evolution of the production work flow, presented by larger studies that are currently introducing new artistic solutions and techniques (Emerging Tools) for the production of series and feature films: 2D/3D integration, Cut-out (Puppet Animation), Frame-by-Frame Paperless Animation, Post-production, VFX.

On these "nodes" students will find also the search for style, as a synthesis between the premises of the concept - expressive and aesthetic intents - and the choices of realization.

Teaching methodology is divided into three main areas: design, technical and instrumental and production-marketing.

The programme initially provides some useful modules to examine and specialize expertise within the concept design, pre-production (from the subject to the storyboard) and animation, alongside the courses that provide the necessary expertise on the technical instrumental perspective.

The course covers subjects such as Concept Design for animation (at the base of the short film), Ambient Design (study set design applied to the different animation techniques), Character Design (screenplay), pre-visualization techniques (from videoboard to lay out Settings Set 3D), Director, Soundtrack, development of interactive digital content.

Teachers follow personally the formulation and implementation of various projects. The students make a dossier of the project, individual or in team, to be presented to the pitch of the most important festivals worldwide (Appel à Projects in Annecy; Pitch Me! At Cartoons on the Bay).

There will be then a communication project (in simulation purchasing) on social issues or education and the creation of a personal show reel (self-presentation) updated to the latest projects.

The final Project may be a short film, a pilot for a TV series or a cross-media project, done individually or in team.

The Florence module focuses on developing specific skills to manage the different organisational phases of a Cultural event: from the design to the identification of partners and sponsors, to communication management and content creation. As a group, with the support of teachers and the course coordinator, students will plan and create one or more cultural events with real clients.

ROME - Art Direction: focus on festivals
The goal of this module is to develop a new approach to artistic heritage management. The Master’s semester in Rome combines the huge culture that the city plays at international level with the vivacity of the backgrounds that characterises its urban culture. With the support of new technologies, students will explore possible cultural convergences that stimulate interest and participation.

VENICE - 1 week Workshop
In partnership with the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, students will participate in a one-week workshop in Venice. They will visit the main institutions and meet the professionals of the Peggy Guggenheim.
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is one of the most important museums in Italy for European and American art from the first half of the Twentieth century. It is located in the home of the famous collector Peggy Guggenheim, at Palazzo Venier dei Leoni on the Grand Canal in Venice.

The total number of hours of the Master program are divided as follows: nine months of frontal lectures, lab activities, didactic visits, integrated by individual study, project development and three months dedicated to the elaboration of the final Thesis Project, that could be done alone or in group.

The Master is organized into four main educational areas:

AREA 1_KEY ELEMENTS OF CONTEMPORARY ARTS
The first area want to provide students with theoretical basis on the contemporary cultural sector and its historical roots, both nationally and internationally. In particular, they receive in this section a solid preparation on Contemporary Arts and Critics, followed by an in-depth analysis of the Arts system and the Art Market, including meeting with the main operators acting there.
Moreover, a specific attention will be dedicated in this prospective to the 57th International Art Exhibition organized by Venice Biennale, experienced in an exclusive way.

AREA 2_KEY ELEMENTS OF CULTURAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The second area is designed to provide operational tools with which students can transform the knowledge gained in employment opportunities. The methodology followed starting from an economical and creative approach, providing them with fundamentals of Cultural Economics, Business Planning, Project Cycle Management, Marketing, Crowd Founding and Engagement actions, followed by specific focus on how to create a cultural start-up or business activity in the sector.

AREA 3_CULTURAL SECTORS
Heritage, Cultural industries and Material culture: the third module analyze the meaning of the word “Culture” and offer the possibility to experiment the interaction between different aspects that characterize this wide sector. Fashion, Design, Handcraft, Tourism, Performing Arts and New Technologies: workshop and fieldtrips will be organized with high professionals and operators in these fields, so to stimulate the students on the contamination between the different cultural assets.

AREA 4_ENTREPRENEURSHIP EXPERIENCE
The final Thesis Project offers to the students a concrete opportunity to start – or develop, his/her own career using at best the theoretical and practical skills and methods learned during the other modules of the Master course. Based on the personal interest, they will in fact work together with a tutor on the creation and design of an accurate business plan to start an own business or to propose a project to institution operating in cultural field or to a non-profit organization.
At the end of each thematic Module students are requested to pass an assessment exam, able to check the knowledge assimilated during the classes attended.
Moreover, fieldtrips and specific case histories represent an important asset during all the Master, related to single course or module. At this proposal destination and testimonial could be also defined taking into consideration the proposal done by lectures and students during the pathway.

The curriculum of the course consists of surveys of modern and international contemporary art, as well as close consideration of visual arts institutions and practices, training in exhibition organization and public programs in museums and not-for-profit galleries, commissioning, writing, publishing and commercial gallery activity. The teaching combines lecture-based courses, self-initiated research, seminars, site visits, and collaborative work. It also involves the realization of a project in partnership with a national pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
The duration of the Masters program is divided as follows: seven months of lectures, lab activities, museum and gallery visits, integrated with individual study, project development and three months dedicated to the elaboration of a final Thesis Project that can be undertaken alone or in a group.
The Masters program has a very pragmatic approach, providing students with methodology and a step-by-step path that will lead to the realization of an exhibition project. For that reason its structure is divided into 3 main parts:

- AREA 1_THEORY
The first part provides students with solid introduction to the history of post-WW2 modern and contemporary art, and a critical analysis of recent trends. The history of exhibitions is analyzed in the light of museology, leading to a consideration of current curatorial strategies.

- AREA 2_SKILLS AND EXPERTISE
The second part is concerned with specific expertise and skills required to develop an efficient working practice in fields of exhibition organization and management, also placing emphasis on audience development through marketing and learning, writing – as required for publication, fundraising etc – and off-site activity. Driven by renowned professionals, this area will be relevant equally for those wishing to pursue careers either in not-for-profit or commercial art worlds, in auction houses or art fairs, commissioning the production of new art work in museums or in the public realm.

- AREA 3_PRACTICE
The third part is the realization of a curatorial project, starting from an idea to its concrete realization. They will moreover live the experience of the next 57th International Art Exhibition managed by La Biennale of Venice from a special point of view, and special week inside the main cultural institution located in the city.

At IED Barcelona Design Management is taught by a faculty body of practitioners from Design & Business, through the immersion and practice of different innovation and strategic methodologies, analysis of case studies and the execution of a real-industry project commissioned either by multinational companies competing in the global economy, or local companies competing in the international markets. This approach facilitates the training in decision making, placing the students in a real context for innovation and experimentation.

Following the learning-by-doing methodology, students are constantly developing relevant projects in teams. The learnings and competences achieved will be applied at the transversal real-industry project alongside the program. The Design Management Master students are hosted in a dedicated classroom, a space that it's transformed in an innovation design studio where students experiment with new tools and knowledge, with the guidance of the faculty. Small groups of students in the class facilitate the application of this hand-on methodology.

Design managers most likely won’t need to design in detail themselves, but they must be able to communicate very clearly their concepts, either to the business staff or to the design team in order to achieve the desired results. Therefore the students are taught a very diverse set of tools, to train their skills to a level where they can communicate well and loose the fear to discuss at sketch level or through a video.

With the aim of creating synergies between futures professionals, some transversal activities are held for exchanging knowledge with students of different programs. This is also part of IED philosophy.

PERSONAL RESEARCH PROJECT

The Personal Research Project is the single most important piece of written work that students undertake during their RSP Research Study Program. PRP is the culmination Master and should demonstrate that the student has acquired skills, knowledge and analytical capabilities.

The project is an original piece of research involving primary data collection which aim is to undertake an individual work that meets the requirements outlined in these guidelines in order to achieve a passing grade.

The objectives of the thesis process are the following:

. To identify a feasible project in the student’s area of study

. To establish clearly defined objectives and/or questions to be investigated

. To design and implement an appropriate (design research/process) methodology

. To understand the adding value proposition (concept)

. To create a business development plan based on the previous concept.

. To create feasible and concrete design proposals

. To demonstrate analytical skills and produce valid findings

. To apply theory to practical reality

. To draw appropriate conclusions and recommendations where necessary

. To produce a well organized and well-written final document and an effective oral presentation of the thesis

INTERNSHIP

After finishing classes and presenting the two real industries projects, students have the opportunity to implement and prove all the knowledge acquired and skills developed in a three months internship.

In the same period students are working on their PRP so that they can choose to focus their investigation on a personal project or to connect it with the internship.

FIELD TRIPS

To give students a wider understanding of market state-of-the-art, 2 field trips are scheduled in the course curriculum. With the guidance of professors and coordination, students explore different markets and professional contexts in Europe.

Each Field Trip will take students for 3 to 5 days to European cities to exchange knowledge in different environments. After those days devoted to academic activities, students have the opportunity to discover the city by their own. The proposed trips for this academic year are*:

. Milan_ Salone del Mobile 2016 and visit to companies.

. Geneva_ Innovation Bootcamp at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research).

The Master in Fashion Business has as its primary objective the development of skills and occupational skills (creative and communicative) of the participants through a critical, analytical and indirect approach to the fashion system and an experimental teaching method that combines theory and practice.

The course includes the study and analysis of cultural, historical and socio-economic elements that define the world of contemporary fashion. The programme is structured to provide opportunities for students to work with Italian fashion brand on real cases, and to investigate, along with designers and professionals in the contemporary fashion system, the knowledge of the entire process of communication industry. Particular attention is given to integrated strategies that increasingly involve the use of new media and social media. The course focuses on the use of digital media and viral communication techniques.

Students examine critically the topics of design and management, and how to work in team. The theme of fashion is examined in all its forms: history, communication, marketing, semiotics, visual communication. Particular attention is given to fashion events (exhibitions, fashion shows, events in the showrooms..) and their communication through press office, focusing on the roles of all the professionals involved (PR, stylists and photographers) and their interactions .

The concepts are examined and put into practice through classes based on concrete projects and collaborations with companies. The skills acquired by the participants include the organization of events and their effective communication through a strategic approach and detailed critical analysis that can be applied to any project.

The Italian system of design is analysed from different points of view: from the visual merchandising, production processes, from business plan to the professional presentation of the product or event to the customer. The programme of visits to major local companies and meetings with managers of the fashion industry, together with the expected theoretical and practical classes, help to get in contact with the real market.

The final Project offers the opportunity to develop, with the support of tutors and teachers, students’ project idea. Based on personal interests and aspirations, the students make a project, to be presented at the international exhibition Pitti in Florence. The same project becomes useful in a practical way at the end of the course, along with other projects carried out during the year, as a portfolio for a professional career.
