The MA in Music (Popular Music Research) engages with scholarly debates and public controversies around popular music, while examining and developing both traditional and innovative ways of researching popular music.
British Music Studies is a fast-growing research field in today’s musicology.

All our MA programmes are designed to provide knowledge and skills in practice-based research, as well as giving you experience of current research practices in various areas of critical and analytical thinking.
The artistic and production landscapes involving music and media continuously evolve at an overwhelming pace. A globalized, technology driven world not only opens doors to new creative possibilities, but also to new challenges, as well as artistic and business oriented expectations.
The programme expects to attract entrants who have a background in the subject or a related subject area, acquired through previous study (a bachelor's degree with honours or equivalent) and entrants who have acquired experience through work or other means that enables staff responsible for admissions to be confident of the candidate's ability to succeed in the programme. .
