MA Education (Religious Education) students explore educational, political and philosophical debates that have influenced the learning and teaching of religious education in schools, colleges and related settings.
The MA Education encourages and enables students to think deeply and critically about education as a field of study. We recognise this as a rich field that encompasses a wide range of contrasting philosophical, disciplinary and political positions.
The Education and International Development MA will introduce students to the concepts of development and educational development, and help them assess the role of education and learning in the development process by examining theory and research.
The Education MA is a flexible course that combines interdisciplinary perspectives with the development of analytical and core research skills to enable students to pursue their own subject-specific interests in education.
The Social Justice and Education MA will help students to identify, examine and understand key sociological and philosophical perspectives on social justice, including issues of race, class, gender and sexuality, and education.
In the MA Education (Citizenship), students explore educational, political and philosophical debates that have influenced the curriculum and the learning and teaching of citizenship in schools, colleges and related settings.
In the MA Education (History), students explore educational, political and philosophical debates that have influenced curriculum and the learning and teaching of history in schools, colleges and related settings.
The Sociology of Education MA will guide students through the latest theories, concepts and research in the sociology of education, exploring the wider political, social and cultural contexts of policy and practice in education.
The Education, Gender and International Development MA will develop a student's understanding of the gender dimensions of research, analysis, policy and practice in relation to education in low- and middle-income countries.
The Music Education MA will introduce students to research and research-informed practice at the forefront of music education. The programme will provide tools for interrogating musical and educational assumptions, values and practices.
Our Education, Policy & Society MA is an interdisciplinary course which draws on sociology, political science, economics and history to address the challenges of education policy and provision.
