The MA Education is designed so that you may enter with or without qualified teacher status and also study full or part-time. All students follow the same modules but over a different time scale.

This course offers you flexible professional and personal development opportunities. It is ideal if you are a teacher, either experienced or recently qualified, or another educational practitioner working in:

Full time – 1 year.
Part time – typically 1 year to certificate, 2 years to diploma and 3 years to masters.

Assessment: assessment is by 100% coursework and includes presentations, reflective accounts, individual and group activities, essays, research reports.

Accreditation of Prior Credit and Learning (APCL)
-If you have existing masters level credit from previous postgraduate study, you may be eligible for exemption from some elements of the early stages of this course. In order to be considered for possible exemptions which, if approved, would also reduce your overall course fee, you would need to provide a full transcript of your postgraduate credits with your application form by the end of July.

Become a informed, reflective and confident teacher of English language. The course equips you to teach in the international world of work and helps you develop as an English language teacher and researcher. From September 2016, we are offering MA TESOL students the opportunity to take the Trinity Cert TESOL as an optional part of our MA course. The Trinity Cert TESOL is an internationally recognised level 5 certificate designed for those with little or no experience of teaching English. It is a practical teaching qualification and equips candidates with the basic skills and knowledge needed to take up a first post as an ESOL teacher. MA TESOL students have the opportunity to take this certificate at an additional cost of £1,200 and subject to meeting Trinity College London requirements regarding English language level.

The course is for UK and international graduates who plan to follow or develop a career in English language teaching. No previous experience of teaching is necessary. On this course you learn about language and how to describe and analyse it. You also learn to become a critically reflective English language teacher with practical skills such as lesson planning, material evaluation and classroom management.

As well as studying key issues in TESOL, you develop observation and research skills, independence and team skills.
Our course also offers language and research skills classes specifically focused on helping MA TESOL students develop their academic reading and writing. The course emphasizes the following key principles:
-Practice based learning.
-Reflective practice.
-Core subject knowledge.
-Developing academic literacies.
-Research and development skills.
