This programme runs alongside the MA Strategic Marketing and has been created to enable graduates and professionally qualified managers to gain a greater understanding of marketing communications.

This full-time programme is designed for students who wish to develop a management career in marketing with a particular emphasis on strategic communications.

The programme builds students' skills - business, academic and personal - as well as their understanding of aspects of marketing communications such as communications planning, consumer decision-making and behaviour, traditional and new (interactive) media and leading edge academic ideas to better meet the competitive challenges of a changing marketplace.

The programme also offers the opportunity of a visit to a partner school in France to explore communications in a different cultural and disciplinary context.

Public Relations (PR) has become an increasingly influential management discipline over the last 20 years. The programme provides students with the practical and theoretical skills to enable them to help organisations communicate, build relationships and engage with increasingly demanding stakeholders.

This programme enhances the skills you need as a PR and communications student seeking to enter the industry. It is focused on developing skills related to communications as a strategic management discipline, it enhances employability and the continuing development of the profession. You will have the opportunity to undertake an internship with an organisation as part of one of your optional courses, Professional Practice.

Studied full-time, this is aimed at students with a good first degree seeking to develop more sector-specific, specialist and reflective skills via postgraduate study prior to entering the public relations industry. The programme, when studied part time is aimed at career development for people already in the industry.

The MA PR has been developed in close conjunction with the PR industry to provide a platform of key core courses relevant to PR practice alongside a range of optional courses which provide specific sector focus. This one-year MA Strategic Marketing Communications programme (Dual Award) is designed to provide graduates and professionally qualified managers with an understanding of key aspects of marketing communications and give them the necessary skills to research, assess and evaluate aspects of the communications mix thereby enabling them to develop coherent and integrated communications strategies.

While studying this programme, students will be undertaking a dual award at both the University of Greenwich in London and FBS in Poitiers, giving them an opportunity to strengthen their intercultural competence, take advantages of both institutes’ extensive business, social and professional networks, and enhance their employability with work placement.

On completion of the requirements for both institutions students will be awarded two degrees: MA Strategic Marketing Communications from University of Greenwich and MA International Marketing Communications from France Business School in Poitier. All study is in English. The first term is based in London, the second term is in Poitiers and the third term will usually be UK based.

Erasmus Grant funding is available for scholarship schemes on this programme, for a limited number of students. Further details will be provided upon successful receipt of unconditional or conditional offer on the programme.

Students on the MA Media & Communication study digital media creatively, theoretically and professionally - developing a practical and critical approach to digital and social media. Creative abilities and professional skills are exercised through live projects in collaboration with industry practitioners. From the start, students respond to external briefs, "pitch" to clients, and deliver outcomes such as research findings, content sketches, mockups and action plans. Students can pursue this further through a credit-bearing creative industries placement. Research techniques and the skills to communicate findings in writing and presentations represent a core component of the course. In parallel to theory and research, students engage in hands-on planning and crafting of content for digital and social platforms. Career destinations involve roles relating to digital communications and social media management, marketing, PR, events and various roles relating to media content production.

The aims of the programme are:

Upon completion, students should have knowledge and understanding of:

Digital media and creative industries in a local (UK) and international context.
Research methods, techniques and tools for digital media audiences (e.g., qualitative research, audience data analysis, social media monitoring).

On this programme, students develop a practical and critical approach to the relationship between film production workflows, digital film technology, and creative practice. The programme seeks to develop students' creative abilities to a high professional standard, preparing them for employment in increasingly dynamic film and media sectors, and to facilitate film projects that foreground the importance of practice-based research, expertise and experimentation.

The MA route allows students to refine a critical approach to creativity in areas such as writing, directing, and producing; the MSc focuses on creative technological agendas in areas such as cinematography, editing, and VFX. From October to April, you will attend three core courses (Cinematography 1, Production Practice, Film Research Workshop) and choose four courses from the following options: Cinematography 2, Film Screenwriting, VFX, Directing Screen Performance, Sound Design and Editing. You will use digital camera equipment current in the industry, including RED, Canon C300 and Arri Alexa systems. Teaching takes place in brand new film production facilities in the Stockwell Street building, which includes studios, post-production suites, and a sound studio.
