Suitable for ambitious and resourceful individuals who wish to work in leadership and enabling roles in the arts and creative industries. RWCMD’s MA in Arts Management offers hands-on, vocational training within the unique environment of a thriving arts centre and leading conservatoire.

We encourage applications from as wide a range of backgrounds and specialisms as possible. The course provides sector-leading training for those who are new to arts management as a career option. It can also be tailored to suit people already working in the sector who wish to gain experience in leadership and management, or to accelerate career development.

Students receive expert tuition and mentoring from tutors with extensive professional experience, while building practical skills through a series of placements working alongside arts professionals within the College’s own venues and with external partner organisations.

All practical work is underpinned by an intensive course of lectures and tutorials covering a wide range of topics related to current arts management practice.

Guest lectures given by leading experts from around the UK also feature regularly, providing students with opportunities to deepen their understanding of the current political, economic and media contexts in which arts companies and organisations operate, and the challenges of working in a global, multicultural and digital world.

With a relatively small number of places available each year, tutors are able to offer a very high level of individual support, and to help tailor the programme according to each student’s individual experience, interests and career aspirations.

Entry to the MA in Arts Management is in September each year. Students can choose to study via one of the following pathways:
- full time for one year
- part-time over two years
- individually tailored – suitable for those with 2+ years professional, paid experience in a creative or arts/production management role.
Applicants’ needs and experience are considered on an individual basis, with relevant modules available for APEL.
