The Master program International Health & Social Management prepares its students for the requirements of a future-oriented field of work where an understanding of the links between health care and social organizations – charitable and profit-oriented, public and private, national and international – is essential. The medium-term outlook for graduates of the 2-year Master program is administrative and upper-level management positions in the health care sector, in the social and public sector and related fields.

Due to the changing health care environment, the demand for qualified persons in this sector is constantly rising. Across the European Union, health and social systems and related policies are becoming more interconnected than ever before, with more movement of people, citizens, patients and professionals. The Master program International Health & Social Management is interconnected with the study offer of the European Master in Health Economiecs and Management.

Please notice also our innovative double degree option in cooperation with the University of Economics in Prague.

It is nowadays a truism that accelerating globalisation makes the world of international business a demanding and challenging place. Yet it is important to remember that change has always been part of the way we live our lives. Historically, people who have been the most successful at handling change have been those who have engaged in higher education at some point in their lives.

Successful people are generally those who have an attitude of not just adapting to changing circumstances, but who anticipate the direction of change and who can thrive in dynamic environments.

By studying international business at FH Kufstein you can be assured that you will receive a truly modern higher education in business that will help you succeed.

This comprehensive new master's degree, with its international orientation, allows students to choose from one of two specialisations, whilst simultaneously offering a wide range of electives.

Two Specialisations

The specialisations are in marketing/management and finance. The marketing/management option is designed to provide a sound management education in the broad area of marketing. A thorough understanding of services marketing, consumer marketing, consumer behaviour, social marketing and social psychology is integral to the marketing management specialisation.

The finance option, which is built upon a comprehensive economics base, includes study in the areas of corporate finance, multinational business finance, behavioural finance as well as the economics of uncertainty.

Lectures in English

Given that English is the language of international commerce, all lectures are conducted in English. Moreover, social skills are fundamental to successful business operations in an international environment. Students are given the opportunity to deepen their communication and negotiation abilities, whilst simultaneously gaining important insights into team development and conflict management. Graduates have the ability to think systematically.

The program is entirely taught in English with native speakers coming from England, Ireland, Canada, and Australia among others from both universities as well as the business field. The main emphasis lies on the development of strategic and leadership skills. Central to this program are analysis and conception as well as research orientation. With the inclusion of current scientific discussions, the unity of research and subject matter is guaranteed. This leads to a unique interdisciplinary approach to mastering the elements and structural provisions involved in the management of sports, culture and events businesses.

Core Concept

The key focus of the master program represents three core concepts - strategic management, research and management in the fields of sports, culture and events management and the future-orientated focus of optional academic study modules. Students are able to choose courses in areas such as venue management, destination management, strategic events management, strategic projekt development, urban studies, and city development.

We are pleased to present our Master program that is in line with the Global Standards for Social Work Education & Training of the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), thereby meeting the appropriate guidelines for this academic study.

Particular attention will be placed on the promotion of social work professionalism through:

- the application of current social work methods and techniques in line with new theories and ethical standards;
- the use of social research methods in order to analyse social problems, to discover their determinants and consequences, as well as to develop relevant approaches to intervention;
- the communication of knowledge in the arena of social policy and networking;
- the ability to develop performance-oriented organizations, successfully manage social systems and carefully lead relevant organizations.

Study Program

The deep and far-reaching structural changes to modern societies lead to increasing complexities of social problems and to a growing concern for sustainable socio-economic development.

There is a growing understanding that many social problems are structurally determined and therefore must be resolved at this level. The classical client-centred social work strategies and techniques are to be evaluated and supplemented through operational strategies and methods at the regional (meso) and societal (macro) levels.

Thus, the areas of controlled social change, the (re)formation of social policy, the descriptive and explanatory research of the emergence and solution of societal problems, a thorough theoretical knowledge and well-founded mastery of the latest intervention strategies in social work, as well as knowledge in the area of management of social organizations, are all becoming increasingly necessary and important in social work. There is a growing societal need for more profound social work knowledge and an understanding of a balanced configuration of societal co-existence at the micro, meso and macro levels.

The purpose of the Master program Social Work, Social Policy & Management is to provide, through input from regionally and internationally active specialists, a practice-based education in the solution of societal problems.

Graduates are trained to apply the latest social work methods and techniques appropriately in their particular practice, to analyse social problems through social work research methods, to recognize their determinants and follow the conclusions through, to initiate social policy judiciously and to lead social organizations efficiently and effectively.

Strategic Management & Law is a quality-oriented, interdisciplinary Master program designed to meet international standards, and located at the interface between two established academic disciplines. It is based on an in-depth requirements analysis and the development efforts of a team of selected international experts of science and practice. It offers a balanced combination of crosscultural, management-oriented and legal focal subjects hand in hand with a thoroughly practical teaching approach.

English as the language of instruction, selected electives, an optional semester abroad, intercultural topics and case studies encourage our students to widen their scope of action in an international environment and offer excellent career perspectives.

A strong emphasis is put on international business law, an integral comprehension of global entrepreneurial processes and the development of profound management skills for international policy-makers.
