The MA/MSc 3D Stereoscopic Media cuts through much of the hype and media glamour associated with 3D Stereoscopic to provide you with a grounded and deep exploration of the area. Working with industry professionals and specialist S3D technology and platform providers, the course encourages the examination of all sides of the Stereoscopic 3D story. This includes an examination of the perceptual science and human vision theory as well capture and display technologies looking at the biology, psychology and the technologies behind the current wave of innovation.

You will combine forces with students from a wide variety of creative and technical backgrounds through a series of collaborative projects to design and build rich 3D content, applying a core understanding of the nature of stereo perception in 3D output. Content will be repurposed for multiple platforms, from point-of-sale lenticular screens, 3D mobile devices, to 3D cinema, exploring how narrative and storytelling can be enhanced through stereoscopic production and delivery.

The digital production and post-production tools will enable you to deliver 3D projects through a full professional stereo pipeline, from capture to delivery. This course will share some technical delivery with the MA/MSc Broadcast Futures pathway, encouraging a collaboration of ideas to exploit these exciting new technologies.

The course covers the history of Stereoscopic 3D through to the roles played by modern content and technology companies. You will engage with production processes and workflows for multiple platforms including specialist content management, production and post-production techniques.

You will acquire the research and development skills in the Research Process unit needed for building your understanding of stereoscopic media.

Within the Technology Issues unit, you will engage with three project cycles that allows you to explore emerging 3D technology first as a discipline group, then in collaboration with another discipline, and finally in an individual project, often in collaboration with industry, for example through a live brief, or using high end donated equipment.

In the Business and Innovation unit, you will develop an understanding of business and innovative practices in the creative industries to bring an entrepreneurial perspective.

The Major Project represents the culmination of your investigation and the final stage of the research strategy when you will conduct a 15-week project to build a prototype, test an emerging technology or generate a concept. This programme offers candidates the opportunity to attain a postgraduate degree from a Russell Group university and simultaneously gain exemptions from all Professional Level examinations for the ICAEW, a globally respected professional accounting qualification of high reputation. The ICAEW's exams consist of three levels: Certificate, Professional and Advanced Levels. Through our partnership with ICAEW, completion of our MSc programme can achieve exemptions from all Professional Level papers (ICAEW do not award exemptions for Advanced Level papers). Additionally students will be prepared for, and if successful in gaining credit for the relevant Professional Level modules, be entered into, the three ICAEW Advanced Level papers. Successful MSc graduates can impress potential employers by being fully exam qualified on completing the MSc and ICAEW exams. ICAEW members can go on to work in accounting, financial services and business management and many FTSE quoted company directors are ICAEW members.

Whilst students would need three years of relevant work experience under a training contract with a registered training provider to attain full ICAEW membership, they would be attractive targets for employers and could develop into careers within the accounting profession, financial services and business management.

The Addiction Studies course is designed for students and professionals interested in the conceptualisation, treatment and prevention of addictive behaviours. It provides a widely recognised qualification with an integrated multi-disciplinary teaching and learning approach to the problems of use, dependence on alcohol, nicotine and other psychoactive drugs, and other addictive behaviours.

The course recognises that its students come from a variety of backgrounds with the goal of extending their theoretical knowledge and practical skills beyond those related to the subjects that they studied at undergraduate level. For example, a nurse or youth counsellor may wish to increase their knowledge of molecular biology or psychopharmacology, while psychology graduates may wish to increase their knowledge and familiarity with treatment options. Mental illness has a huge impact on the physical health of an individual. People with mental health conditions are at a higher risk of experiencing physical health problems, such as diabetes and heart conditions. There is a need to develop a nursing workforce that is fit for the current demands of healthcare in the UK.

This Masters programme, where you will be eligible to apply for registration with the NMC as a registered nurse in the mental health and adult fields of nursing, will provide you with the opportunity to meet this demand.

Placements

You will spend around 50% of your time on clinical placements. Your practice experience will take place in a variety of settings such as specialist units, hospital wards and primary care settings such as Health Centres and patients/service users’ homes.

Most placements are within our 'community of practice', a partnership of healthcare providers within North East London - allowing you to become familiar with the needs of the local community and its healthcare providers.

Academic facilities

The Clinical Skills Centre at City offers excellent facilities for you to rehearse practical caring skills prior to your practice placement. You will have access to a simulated six-bed high-dependency unit (HDU) with realistic equipment including piped oxygen, call bells, medicines and emergency equipment. In addition, medium-fidelity simulators and laboratories, including a biology laboratory, allow you to rehearse skills in preparation for practice in a range of placements, including clinics and people's homes.

The School of Health Sciences is one of the first health schools in the UK to open a Technology Enabled Care Studio - City TECS. Modules

This course is based on the theory of relationship-centred care and the psychological, social and biological factors influencing health. These themes are explored in the context of acute and long-term care and later in the course there is an emphasis on leading and managing in professional practice. The course has three parts with two progression points which must be successfully completed in order to progress to the next part. The modular structure of the programme is developmental and students study at HE level 7 throughout the programme with students expected to demonstrate increasing levels of self-directed independent study as the programme progresses.

Student independent learning time varies during the programme and is focused more in the theory modules and averages between 30-50 hours a week. All modules are compulsory.

Part One of the course is 26 weeks and focuses on the Foundations in Health and Nursing. This part includes the following modules:

We have two adult nursing skills laboratories at our Southwark campus and three at our Havering campus. Our nursing skills labs; set up like hospital wards are used by all student nurses and midwives throughout their courses. They learn manual handling and basic life support skills and skills that are specific to their field of nursing or midwifery.

- SimMan
The nursing wards have simulator mannequins: SimMan, SimBaby and SimMom. These life-size mannequins are computer controlled and can be programmed with various clinical conditions. These are operated by a computer in real-time and so respond to a student's actions. They also allow students to see the outcome of specific interventions in certain scenarios, which could make the patient better or deteriorate quite quickly.

The mannequins are used to teach students how to recognise clinical signs, and to also associate those clinical signs with the actions they are taking to care for the patient. SimMan can be male or converted to female with fully accurate anatomy and can breathe, blink, sweat, speak and groan in pain as well as have a pulse. This programme equips physiotherapists with the skills and knowledge to become advanced practitioners who are able to:

- Comprehensively assess and manage individuals with neuromusculoskeletal problems;

- Design, implement and evaluate rehabilitation programmes tailored to the needs of individuals with neuromusculoskeletal problems.

Modules include clinical science subjects (anatomy. biomechanics, pain physiology and muscle and exercise physiology) as well as those focussing on physiotherapy practice.

The transference of knowledge into clinical practice is facilitated during practical sessions in college and on professional practice (clinical) placements. Students who successfully complete the programme are eligible for MACP (Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists) membership. The UCL Bartlett is the UK's largest multidisciplinary Faculty of the Built Environment, bringing together scientific and professional specialisms required to research, understand, design, construct and operate the buildings and urban environments of the future.

Located in London, it is at the heart of the world's largest cluster of creative architects and engineering firms, next to the UK's seat of government and finance and has all the resources of a world city to hand.

Outputs from the programme include group exhibitions, such as ‘Constructing Realities’, which was held at Arup's Phase 2 Gallery in central London.
