This course is validated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Bar Standards Board and is ideal for non-law graduates who want to progress towards qualification as a solicitor or barrister. It is highly valued in other professions where a critical understanding of the legal system and foundations of legal knowledge is beneficial in carrying out day to day work, thus enhancing employability skills.
You will study the English Legal System plus Criminal Law, Law of Contract, Tort, Public Law, Land Law, Equity and Law of the EU. Some or all of these subjects inform the work of those employed in areas such as human resources, local government, management, the NHS, accountancy and banking. You will also engage in a research project, providing an opportunity for you to investigate an area of interest from a list of topics or one identified by your employer to further your work.
The LLM Law (Exempting) Degree is also a springboard if you intend to pursue a PhD.
