Masters Degrees in Jazz Dance

We have 3 Masters Degrees in Jazz Dance

Masters degrees in Jazz Dance equip postgraduates with the advanced skills to analyse, devise and choreograph a range of Jazz Dance performances. This include solo and ensemble dance, as well as explorations of jazz interpretations. Courses are typically taught MA, but research options are sometimes available. Entry requirements normally include an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, such as Performance or Dance Studies.

Why study a Masters in Jazz Dance?

## A Masters in this field is an ideal way to boost not only your skills in choreography and Jazz technique, but your overall knowledge of the historical and sociocultural influences of Jazz Dance. Through examinations of critical literature and performances, you will scrutinise a range of traditional Jazz forms such as tap and jitterbug, as well as contemporary styles such as ‘modern’ theatrical jazz. Consideration is also given to adaptations and interpretations of different styles into Jazz Dance; some courses will involve a practical project involving an interpretative element. You will also learn about the industry, particularly its global economic stance and historical development. Careers can involve not only performance, but roles in theatre management, choreography and directing of live and recorded performances.
