IHE Delft is the largest international graduate water education facility in the world and is based in Delft, the Netherlands. For over sixty years, the Institute has been offering a wide variety of educational courses in the field of water, with a particular focus on sustainable development. In addition to five MSc Programmes, the Institute also offers a wide range of short and online courses.
IHE Delft combines Dutch water expertise with the latest insights from professional practices worldwide. The institute creates a life-changing experience for its students by exposing them to an intercultural environment, characterized by plurality and diversity of ideas, experiences and disciplines. The campus is located along the main canal of Delft. The human scale of these premises allows students to feel at home easily and to communicate with academic staff in a personal setting.
Upon leaving IHE Delft, graduates start or resume a career dealing with water and sanitation services, managing the urban water cycle, water policy and planning, environmental regulation or civil engineering design and construction in the water sector. Alternatively they may apply their new found knowledge to related sectors, such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture or mining. Careers include working in engineering firms/consultancy, (local/regional) government, academia and research institutes, NGOs and international organizations.

IHE Delft carries out research, education and capacity building activities in the fields of water, environment and infrastructure. IHE Delft continues the work that began in 1957 when IHE first offered a postgraduate diploma course in hydraulic engineering to practising professionals from developing countries.
Innovative learning at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education equips professionals with the research, managerial and technical skills needed to deal with challenges in the fields of water and the environment in their countries.
The Institute is the largest water education facility in the world, and the only institution in the UN system authorised to confer accredited MSc degrees.
