Since being founded in 1876, we’ve had a reputation for doing things a little differently. Bristol was the first institute of higher education in the UK to admit women on an equal basis with men, and in 2019, we became the first UK university to declare a climate emergency.

The University of Bristol is one of the top ten universities in the UK (QS World University Rankings 2024). We’re a member of the Russell Group of UK research-intensive universities and one of the country's top five for research (THE analysis of REF 2021).

Our programmes

We offer postgraduate degrees in a wide range of subject areas across a variety of faculties.

Many of our taught postgraduate programmes lead to a master’s qualification (MA, MSc, MRes, LLM) and last one year full-time or two years part-time. They are specially designed to support professional career development and part-time study options are available on many programmes.

Funding

We have a range of scholarships that can help fund your studies.

There are various scholarships for international students, including our Think Big scholarships which offers tuition fee support of up to £26,000 and can help increase your confidence and employability.

Students with a home fee status can apply for the UK government’s Postgraduate Loans Scheme. And the Bristol Master's Scholarship is available to help talented UK students from underrepresented backgrounds access postgraduate study.
