Whether you are going straight from your first degree, returning to higher education after years in industry or looking to re-boot your career, studying a postgraduate degree at the University of Gloucestershire allows you to develop your skills, knowledge and contacts needed to advance in your chosen field.

We’ve recently been ranked 6th globally in the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey 2019.

We offer both taught and research degrees, from masters to PhDs, in a variety of subjects and with a range of study modes. Our course options provide you with the flexibility to adapt your learning around personal and professional commitments.

Gloucestershire is as vibrant and future-facing as it is historic and beautiful. We have three campuses across the Regency spa town of Cheltenham (Francis Close Hall and Park) and the historic city of Gloucester (Oxstalls), offering industry standard facilities and connections with our vast professional network.

Be guided by published experts

From former teachers supporting you in the classroom to active criminologists and psychologists helping you further understand the criminal mind, you’ll be taught by respected academics and experts with valuable practical experiences. Many still work part-time in their relevant industry, bringing the latest knowledge to the classroom but also influencing work practices with their teaching.

Join a dynamic community

You’ll not only be engaging with lecturers but also joining our community of experienced practitioners. You’ll work with and learn from your tutors and peers, gaining different perspectives and ideas to make you a more critical thinker. Build your connections outside of the course with guest lecturers and global businesses, while a lot of our courses are accredited by professional organisations such as the British Psychological Society and CIPD.

Ranked 6th globally for research experience

Study a research degree and you will be actively furthering our understanding of a subject, from accounting and law to sport and exercise, biological sciences to theology and religious studies.

We’ve recently been ranked 6th globally and 7th for research skills in the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey 2019. Our degrees are underpinned by research that has been credited in the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2014) as world leading and internationally excellent, with a high impact on real-world developments. This research included submissions in the areas of sports and exercise, countryside and community, humanities, and natural and social sciences.

Use professional, state-of-the-art facilities

Study alongside real businesses looking to grow in our new Business School, conduct experiments in fully equipped labs (including virtual reality suite), work with elite athletes and sports organisations in our international-standard sports arena and get creative in dedicated studio spaces. We have three campuses, all full of state-of-the-art facilities and kit, from our professional standard media centre at Park in Cheltenham, to our sports science labs and therapy suites at Oxstalls, Gloucester.

Dedicated postgraduate accommodation areas

If you’re enrolling as a full-time student and moving to the area, our accommodation includes dedicated postgraduate areas at Pittville Student Village in Cheltenham and Upper Quay halls in Gloucester.

Christopher Thomas, MSc Forensic Psychology student, said:

“I live in a Pittville townhouse with other postgraduate students. It is a great way to meet friends and join a group of like-minded individuals. Learning at postgraduate level means we’re at the same life stage, with a similar outlook, working incredibly hard whilst having the perfect balance between study and social.”
