Swansea University

Providing outstanding postgraduate study since 1920.

Study for a postgraduate degree with us and you’ll become a valued member of our welcoming academic community. Our academics and postgraduate students are committed to producing research that makes a real-life impact on the health, wealth, culture and wellbeing of our society.

We’ve been providing outstanding postgraduate study since 1920, a tradition that we’re proud to continue today. In 2017, we were delighted to be crowned the winners of the ‘Postgraduate’ category at the WhatUni? Student Choice Awards, and in the same year, we were also named the ‘Welsh University of the Year 2017’ by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide.

We recognise that every student is different, and all of our postgraduate programmes will allow you to nurture your unique skills and natural talent to develop new ways of thinking.

An outstanding study environment

Swansea is a UK top 30 university for research excellence, and 90% of our research has been judged as internationally excellent in its impact (Research Excellence Framework 2014). Swansea is a truly international university, and we attract some of the world’s best academics to provide you with innovative, research-led teaching.

The University is currently undergoing a period of transformation, with existing buildings being modernised and state of the art facilities installed across both campuses. We have been awarded the highest 5 Star rating for both Teaching Excellence and Facilities (QS Stars Ratings).

Links with industry & employability

Swansea is one of the UK’s leading universities for collaborative research with industry, and our partner organisations include Rolls-Royce, Airbus, IBM and the NHS. All of our postgraduate programmes are designed with your future employability in mind, providing you with the opportunity to undertake placements and additional training as part of your studies.

The Swansea Employability Academy can also provide one-to-one guidance on job searching, CV writing and interview preparation to ensure that you have the best possible chance of success in the job market.

At Swansea, we believe there’s more to your postgraduate experience than research and teaching excellence. The University is one of the few global institutions with direct access onto a beach, and on campus you can also enjoy a range of modern sporting facilities, restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. Our two campuses are within close proximity to five ‘blue flag’ beaches and a variety of green spaces.

Swansea’s city centre offers all the amenities you need, including a range of restaurants, bars, shops and leisure activities. Venture a little further and you will discover the spectacular Gower Peninsula- the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, perfect for enjoying a range of outdoor pursuits.
