Department of Economics

CEU’s Department of Economics is a research-oriented department with an international faculty holding PhDs from some of the best universities in the world. The Master’s in Economic Analysis (MEA) offers a two-years learning programme in English. Besides providing students with a strong methodological basis, it focuses on comparative, regional, and sectoral issues. Core courses are Advanced Comparative Economics, Health Policy and Finance, and Institutions of Economic Policy, which form the basis of the three specialisations of:

• Comparative Economics,
• Health Economics, and
• Labour Studies.

Students interested in economic and political matters in Central and Eastern Europe, topics in labour and health economics, or comparative studies of post-socialist countries are expected to apply to the programme, which also offers a large number of elective courses including catch-up courses like Business English, and Foundations of Calculus and Statistics.
