This program develops students to become T-shaped professionals in the new global, knowledge based economy by equipping them with both advanced IT technical and managerial skills needed to pursue a successful career.

In this era of market globalization, information technology has emerged as a fundamental factor in the success of business operations. The role of information technology is particularly important for service industries such as finance, insurance, real estates, transport logistics and hospitality in which efficiency provides a definite competitive edge. To improve our service industries and secure Hong Kong’s position as a leading digital city, business managers must be equipped with knowledge of most up-to-date information technology (IT) and business management, and must be able to apply that knowledge to plan and deploy information systems that enhance productivity, competitiveness and performance of their organizations. The Master of Science Program in Information and Technology Management (MSc in ITM) is specially designed to meet this need.

The Program is aimed at individuals with a technical or engineering background who would like to gain the requisite knowledge in technology management, and at business graduates who wish to acquire cutting-edge IT proficiency. The Program also offers a good foundation for students who prepare to pursue further studies in PhD.

A master's programme to prepare students for business in China and on the world stage.

A Career Starter

Launched in 2012, the Master of Science in Business Management (MScBM) Programme provides a general focus on junior business executives and fresh graduates from all disciplines wishing to jumpstart their business careers. With a broad and comprehensive scope ranging from accounting & finance, business law, marketing to management, and an emphasis on dimensions of international business, students shall refine their business knowledge, gain practical experience, hone personal skills, and be ready to kickstart their career.

China Focus, Global Perspective

The MScBM programme curriculum incorporates a wealth of China elements to equip students with general knowledge and skills necessary for success on the Chinese Mainland. Our China-related elective courses, to name but a few, include Legal Aspects of China Trade and Investment, International Trade and Finance in China, and Chinese Wisdom and Management. To further accentuate this China focus, students of the programme are uniquely benefited from a connection with the alumni of the MBA and MScBM programme – many of whom are senior business executives in China –through a series of learning and social activities. This connection provides valuable learning and interactive experience.

Hong Kong Baptist University also offers opportunities for international exchange via its partnership with overseas and Mainland partner institutions, with possibility of credit transfer to the MScBM programme. Moreover, as part of the programme, MScBM students can choose to participate in a one-week business field study in a city in Greater China or overseas, during which they will evaluate a designated company or industry and draw up recommendations to improve business performance. It presents a stimulating environment where students may apply their knowledge of China/international business practices to tackle challenges in a real setting.

All-rounder development

The global business world is seeing a paradigm shift towards what is termed “soft skills” – where such attributes as attitude, intuition, ideas, creativity, energy, and engagement are increasingly valued. The MScBM programme aims at cultivating these aspects of our students through a combination of seminars, workshops, corporate visits and career development training under the umbrella "Executive Development Series” specifically designed to provide a “live learning” experience. These activities offer students practical experience from business leaders, chances to obtain knowledge and skills in leadership, presentation and professional image building, and grasp of latest job market developments.

International recognition and support for International Students

The programme has been triple accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) for full international recognition. We are among the rare 1% of the world’s business schools to obtain this triple accreditation.

International applicants of the programme are also supported by an array of scholarships including the Diversity Contribution Scholarship and other awards for distinguished achievements. International students are given support by the dedicated International Office of Hong Kong Baptist University to help them adapt to life on campus and in the vibrant city of Hong Kong.
