The School of Simulation and Visualisation (SimVis) is dedicated to 3D visualisation, interaction and sound, and has been actively involved in working with Virtual Reality since formation as the Digital Design Studio in 1997. It does this through academic, research and commercial activities. It is the interaction between these activities which makes the SimVis so different. A multi-disciplinary approach is common to all three. People from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply to its academic and research programmes. As a Masters student at the SimVis, in addition to your own programme of study, you will be able to see leading-edge research underway and in some cases see this research taken forward to commercialisation. The SimVis has a suite of postgraduate opportunities, ranging from the M.Des in Sound for the Moving Image through MSc in Medical Visualisation and Human Anatomy, MSc in Heritage Visualisation and the MSc in Serious Games and Virtual Reality. On successful completion of this, students may wish to continue their studies to Doctoral level and SimVis have a wide range of staff with skills and experience, qualified to supervise PhD study.
