Profile

The Master of International Business Management (MIBMA) builds on a knowledge of basic concepts, theories and applied business administration to develop a comprehensive understanding of international management. This takes into account both strategic and operative aspects – and focuses on a project-based and applied approach.

Students on this postgraduate programme can expect to acquire the expertise and skills needed to work in companies or organisations active in an international environment or take on a management position as a future executive.

By including practice-based projects, students develop the skills to apply content creatively to international issues with the objective of solution finding. The students' problem-solving skills are systematically developed by a modern mix of methodological approaches to teaching and learning. Guest speakers acknowledged in their field provide a real-world perspective to supplement the course content.

The programme emphasises working cooperatively to engage with the course materials in an international context. The international focus is clearly reflected in English as the language of instruction, the international composition of the student intake, and the study visit to a partner University in London.

Regular exchanges with fellow-students and faculty support scholarly and cultural learning. Aside from the focus on applied tasks, students also learn the requisite scholarly methodology and, in this way, are trained in systematic and proper scholarly practices.

Through a system of specialisations and electives, the subjects taught go beyond the classic business areas to deal with current topics and issues relevant to present global challenges. Students can opt for one of two specialisations:

International Management explores current issues in general international management as well as applied topics of concern in networked global business such as entrepreneurship or media.

International Tourism Management offers students the chance to study international challenges in a sector which is especially exposed to social and structural change and, at the same time, is highly networked internationally. This applies equally to domestic tourist operators competing on the internal German and European markets as much as to tourist companies active on the international stage.
The Berlin School of Economics and Law (BSEL) awards successful students on this programme the internationally recognised M.Sc. (Master of Science) in International Business Management.

Target Group
This postgraduate programme is designed for applicants from Germany and overseas with a first degree and at least one year of work experience. The programme is especially suitable, for example, for graduates in subjects closely related to business administration such as business informatics, business communication or media management who have attended state and private universities and are interested in a postgraduate degree in general international management.

Content

The programme is structured around 12 modules, each ending with an exam. The programme provides fundamental cross-sector and cross-functional skills and knowledge in international management. How You Earn Your Certificate

Online:

EU Business School’s Online MBA is held over three, 10-week terms (90 ECTS) and has the same structure as the full-time MBA program. Average MBA-related work time is around 30 to 40 hours per week for the full-time program and 20 to 25 for the part-time option. Each term, participants take five courses and various seminars online. Coursework includes online team building and group work, peer-to-peer communication, online lectures, active class discussions, on-campus work and case study analyses.

The program web portal is available 24 hours a day, with open access to study materials, syllabi, plans, guides, reading materials, lectures and discussion forums. In addition to virtual access to classroom materials, students can also count on a comprehensive support network.

Online MBA students are required to turn in a project at the end of their final term that will take about six months to complete. Each student is assigned a faculty advisor or mentor who will guide them during the process.

On campus:

After nine weeks of online study, students travel to one of EU’s main campuses in Barcelona, Geneva or Munich to take part in on-campus week. Students are only required to attend one on-campus week throughout the duration of the program. attested proof and certificate of first academic degree (Bachelor’s, Diplom, Master’s etc.) with a final grade of at least good (2.5 on a German grading scale); in the case of the minimum score not having been achieved, a letter of recommendation from a university is required highlighting the student’s particular eligibility for the Master’s degree course.
in the case of a university degree obtained in another country: appropriate documents in German or English (translated where necessary by an officially recognized translation service)
proof of the necessary business relevance of former obtained degree
proof of proficiency in English, in the case of non-native speakers at the language competency levels of B2 (TOEFL 87 p.; Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English: FCE; TOIEC 605 p.; IELTS 6 p. or other internationally recognized proof of a CERFL level B2)

Uni assist controls the legitimacy of your documents and your eligibility to enter the German higher education system. This process takes about six weeks. Since we want to speed up things, we will do a fast pre-check of your documents and proceed already with the application process.

If you have successfully completed your Bachelor’s degree or Diplom at a university with a background in economic science you do not need any additional business administration qualifications for admission. Rather you will be admitted to the Master’s degree course following the selection process. If you only have a limited business administration foundation or none at all, you will be required to furnish proof thereof before beginning the course of studies.

There are no additional special requirements in terms of prior education. The Master’s degree course is open equally to applicants with professional experience.

Given that the pre-check is positive, we will invite you to our “EBC entrance assessment”.

EBC Hochschule determines a student’s aptitude for the course in question via a selection process, in particular by a personal interview in which the applicant's motivation and suitability are assessed. If it is not possible for you to interview in person, we will arrange an interview via Skype extra for you.

Prepare for a global economy

The intercultural programme Chinese-European Economics and Business Studies provides students with key insights into major aspects of economic development in China and Europe. The skills taught include analyses of specific aspects of trade relations and financial flows, and an understanding of the social and economic interrelations between these two geo-political regions.

Profile

China’s rapid economic development, it’s integration into the world market, as well as its significance for the global economy are changing the development of companies and institutions at a national and international level. Europe is still an important player in the world market. Its integration process is difficult but unique. In an intercultural setting, students will learn to describe major aspects of the economic development in China and Europe and learn to analyse trade relations and financial flows as well as social and economic interrelations between the two regions.

The cross-cultural learning and teaching environment is further supported by a mandatory semester in China. The staff involved in the Master´s programme are internationally-renowned academics and senior researchers. An international academic staff exchange is an essential element in the programme included in team-teaching.

The programme takes a comparative Chinese-European perspective in the majority of the modules. The programme offers an international and application-oriented approach towards a multidisciplinary and academic education in Economics and Business Studies.

The Master Chinese-European Economics and Business Studies Programme addresses applicants who have acquired their first degree (Bachelor/Diploma) and who have a particular interest in the field of the rapidly growing Chinese-European economic and business relations.

Participants in this programme will acquire a good base of knowledge in economics and business, as well as in the specific cultural and political foundations of China and Europe.

Students seeking to build a career in this field will also appreciate the intercultural learning and teaching environment in this Master´s programme.

The programme starts every year on October 1st.

Organisation

The Master programme takes two years in total. It begins in mid of September and ends two years later when students present their Master’s Thesis. The programme is divided into four semesters. The first two semesters are spent at Berlin School of Economics and Law. The third semester takes place at the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, China. The fourth semester includes the writing of the Master’s Thesis. It can be studied in either location.

The Master programme is taught entirely in English.

All core courses are given in a seminar style, using a wide range of case studies, presentations and discussions to provide an in-depth review of the material under consideration.

Despite the diversity of our study groups, there is one thing that unites them all and this is the motivation to give their career a different direction. And this is what our graduates 2013 achieved in terms of career change/transition: 50% changed position and industry, 27 % changed position in the same industry and 4% changed position within the same company. So all in all 81% of our graduates successfully achieved a career change.

What most of our international candidates intrigues about studying for an MBA in Germany and in Berlin is the opportunity to work for a company in Germany after graduation. Of our international graduates 2013 59% achieved this goal.

AMBA accredited MBA programme

MBA in Transatlantic Management

Be a part of the global study world

The Berlin full-time MBA in Transatlantic Management prepares for leadership or consulting roles in companies or organisations which operate in a transatlantic context. The pathway course content will focus on general international management issues with a particular focus on transatlantic issues. Students will learn about topics such as the North American Free Trade Agreement and the European Union and their implications for cross-border trade and foreign direct investment.

Certain forms of market entry such as licensing/franchising will receive particular attention. Important variations in business law and corporate governance standards on both sides of the Atlantic will be examined. Differences in business culture and general business practices in American and European companies will be elucidated.

The primary focus is on finding viable and feasible management solutions in real-life situations confronting cross-boarder-aware businesses and organisations.

To realise this goal effectively, business theory is always linked to best practices and placed in an intercultural context – a process that underscores how business activities are located within a social surround where overall economic and social factors play their part.
