Why study a Masters in Geriatric Nursing?

## Courses in Gerontological Nursing usually take an interdisciplinary approach to training, building your expertise across a variety of care settings. This could include specialising in clinical care, where you’ll get experience of working on hospital wards, administering treatment to elderly patients. You may specialise in advising on areas such as cancer, diabetes, dementia or respiratory disease. Alternatively, you may opt to train in family or community nursing, offering care and assistance to patients outside of the traditional hospital setting. This could include undertaking home visits, helping at nursing homes, or working within community centres. Geriatric nurses may also be employed within other areas of healthcare, such as rehabilitation centres. Other careers may include policy-making on behalf of charities and regulatory authorities, or public administration.
