The programme will be delivered in both part-time and full-time modes. In part-time mode, it will involve blended learning, including one four-day face-to-face session and on-line seminars for each module. In full-time mode, it will involve classroom (lectures, seminars, and workshops) delivery at Coventry University. Each module is worth 15 credits.

Students can enrol for the PG Certificate as this is a qualification aim in its own right. In addition, the PG Certificate serves as a fall back award for students who aim for the Diploma but do not pass enough modules to achieve that award.

Assessment is normally completed at or soon after the end of the ten weeks of teaching for all 15-credit modules.

The 1 year full-time course is campus based, and the 1 year part-time course is a blended learning mode. For international students, the 1 year full-time option only is available.

Students will study general psychology at an advanced level and specialise in their choice of, educational and child psychology, counselling and clinical psychology or health psychology.

The MSc Applied Psychology with Professional Experience is an extended full-time Masters programme with a substantive professional experience component. Within the professional experience modules, students have the option of undertaking an internship with a host organisation or, alternatively, campus-based professional experience.

Internships are subject to a competitive application and selection process and the host organisation may include the University.Internships may be paid or unpaid, and this will depend on what is being offered and agreed with the host organisation. Students who do not wish to undertake an internship or are not successful in securing an internship will undertake campus-based professional experience, which will deliver similar learning outcomes through supervised projects and activities designed to offer students the opportunity to integrate theory with an understanding of professional practice.

On successful completion of this programme, you will be equipped with skills and knowledge relating to how psychology can be applied in practice. Such a qualification will be of benefit to those wishing to work in applied or research settings in psychology-related disciplines.

Please note, this course is not accredited by the British Psychological Society. Successful graduates cannot immediately on graduation use this qualification to enter into stage 2 of the British Psychological Society route towards Chartered Psychologist Status. However, previous graduates have found the course to be benficial in developing their skills, enhancing applications and securing places on accredited training courses including Clinical, Counselling and Educational Psychology, in successfully applying for Assistant Psychologist posts and in pursuing careers such as nursing and teaching.
