The International Master’s Degree Programme in Wireless Communications Engineering (WCE) is a two-year programme concentrating on wireless communications network technology. The programme will give you relevant skills and core knowledge of the latest methods, tools and technologies combined with time-tested issues such as:

The two-year programme has two specialisation options:

Radio Access and Networks concentrates on designing and applying radio access technologies both at physical layer and at network layer for 5G, IoT, and future mobile system generations.

RF Engineering focuses on essential radio system parts and gives the knowledge to design integrated RF and DSP circuits for mobile handsets, base stations, future 5G devices, IoT applications, and smart & energy efficient sensors.

The education is organized by the Centre for Wireless Communications which consists of 150 academics from over 20 countries. CWC performs world-class research for the future of 5G and IoT applications, which will give you the possibility to move forward already during your studies. CWC provides a number of jobs as a trainee or a master’s thesis student, with the possibility to continue as a doctoral student, and even as a post-doctoral researcher.

The skills gained in the programme offer you a solid academic training and essential knowledge on the design of wireless communications networks at the system level. After graduation you are capable of designing, implementing and employing 5G and IoT applications and developing future wireless communications technologies.

The International Master’s Degree Programme in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) is a two-year research-oriented programme concentrating on intelligent digital solutions to real world problems. During the past decades, Computer Science and Engineering has had a significant impact into our daily lives. The development continues and soon computers will not be used as separate devices anymore. Instead they will blend into our living environments and offer us rich sets of services through natural and intuitive user interfaces. The two-year programme has three specialisation options:

Applied Computing focuses on the next generation of interactive systems that place humans at the focus of the technological development. Artificial Intelligence focuses in various fields of AI, such as machine learning, machine vision, and data mining. This specialisation provides students with a solid theoretical understanding and practical skills on processing and analyzing digital data and the ability to create intelligent solutions to real world problems with modern AI techniques.

Computer Engineering focuses on both hardware and software aspects of computing with emphasis on embedded system development. In this specialisation, students also study signal processing and its applications, and work with projects on modern signal processors and embedded computers. The specialisation gives the students a good basis to work with Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

In addition to the core specialization options, students can take optional courses to widen their specialization expertise into:

This Master’s programme is provided by the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, and students are strongly encouraged to work closely with research groups in the faculty that are international leaders in their fields. The Center for Machine Vision and Signal Analysis (CMVS) is renowned world-wide for its 35 years of expertise in computer vision research. The Center for Ubiquitous Computing (UBICOMP) has created a unique research environment for Ubiquitous Computing including multitouch wall-sized displays, smartphone sensing middleware and sensor networks. Biomimetics and Intelligent Systems Group (BISG) is a fusion of expertise from the fields of computer science and biology. During the studies the research groups provide students trainee and master’s thesis positions, with the possibility to continue as a doctoral student, and even as a post-doctoral researcher.

Why study Autonomous Systems?

For anyone interested in a career related to self-driving cars, robotics or artificial intelligence, EIT Digital Masters School offers a two year master programme in Autonomous Systems (AUS).

AUS is a combination of computer science and electronic engineering. During the programme, students will gain new skills in both areas. In computer science, relevant skills include Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, artificial intelligence and robot vision. In electronic engineering, relevant fields are automation, control, embedded systems and communications.

Students learn the latest theoretical knowledge and know how to apply their skills in practical real-life problems. Typical application areas of autonomous systems include autonomous vehicles, intelligent robots, industrial IoT and autonomous software systems.

What are the career opportunities?

At the moment, the job market looks very promising. Automotive manufacturing is a major industry in Europe and the university partners are well linked with these companies. In addition, autonomous systems are relevant in service applications and in manufacturing, logistics, shipping, mining, and recycling industries. Why choose Autonomous Systems at EIT Digital?

The programme is a double degree programme, which means that you’ll study at two European universities (and countries). The programme has an integrated technical content (Technical major) and business content (Innovation & Entrepreneurship – I&E minor). The I&E minor is shared between all programmes. An integral part of the second year is a Masters thesis (30 ECTS).

The double-degree programme is implemented jointly by leading European universities. The students can select their favorite first (entry) and second (exit) year universities. Each university has a unique specialisation area, which allows students to select their own second year expert area.

How is the programme structured?

All EIT Digital Master School programmes follow the same scheme:

  • Students study one year at an ‘entry’ university and one year at an ‘exit’ university in two of EIT Digital’s hot spots around Europe.
  • Upon completion, graduates receive degrees from the two universities and a certificate awarded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology.
  • The first year is similar at all entry points with basic courses to lay the foundation for the chosen technical programme focus. Some elective courses may also be chosen. At the same time, students are introduced to business and management. During the second semester, a design project is combined with business development exercises. These teach how to turn technology into business and how to present a convincing business plan.
  • In between the first year and the second year, a summer school addresses business opportunities within a socially relevant theme.
  • The second year offers a specialisation and a graduation project. The gradation project includes an internship at a company or a research institute and results in a Master thesis with a strong innovation and entrepreneurship dimension.

About EIT Digital Master School

EIT Digital Master School offers two-year, European Masters in computer science and information technology, with a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. Students study two years in two leading European universities. They earn two Masters degrees from those universities together with a certificate awarded by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Students enjoy an array of benefits which includes European mobility, a three-day business challenge, a two-week Summer School, an internship and access to the EIT Digital community.
