Masters Degrees in Photography

We have 80 Masters Degrees in Photography

Masters degrees in Photography offer advanced training in the creative techniques to produce still images on film, plates or in digital format.

Taught MA and MFA courses are typical for the field, though research-based MRes and MPhil programmes may also be available at some institutions. Entry requirements normally include an appropriate undergraduate degree such as Photography, Media Studies or Art.

Why study a Masters in Photography?

Courses in this field offer a combination of taught, practical techniques in photographic production alongside experimental and speculative approaches.

Applied training covers technological and vocational activities, such as working with different lenses, exploring film versus HD photography, and exploring different terrains and environments. Consideration is also given to the historical developments in photography, its sociocultural influences, and the economics of the industry.

You will undertake numerous projects which will prepare you to work with clients as a professional, ensuring you are working to the brief, from inception through to completion. This includes learning to disseminate, exhibit and publish your works.

As well as working as an independent practitioner, you may wish to join an artists’ guild, work in the film industry, or consider commercial photography such as advertising.
