Engineer the Future with a Postgraduate Degree

Recent events highlight that the future is never certain. But as we enter the fourth Industrial Revolution, we can be sure that developing trends such as machine learning, artificial intelligence and robotics will make radical changes our everyday lives sooner than predicted.

Engineering is in Salford’s DNA. Through our pioneering research agenda, we’ve developed specialist postgraduate engineering courses in acoustics, aviation, structures, robotics, transport and natural resources, to provide industry with switched-on graduates ready to apply knowledge and real-world awareness to design innovative solutions.

Despite the current uncertainty, choosing to enhance your existing engineering skills with a postgraduate engineering degree with Salford will keep you connected to these revolutionary changes, opening up exciting future career opportunities.

Engineer the Future with a Postgraduate Degree

Pursue Civil and Mechanical Engineering Excellence

Salford began in 1896 as an engineering-based technical college located at the centre of Industrial Revolution – and we’ve supplied industry with highly-skilled civil and mechanical engineering graduate professionals ever since.

Civil Engineers can expand their knowledge of Structural Engineering, or branch into transport with our long-running Transport Engineering and Planning course. Mechanical engineers can go further with Advanced Mechanical Engineering Design, or take their interests to new heights with Aerospace Engineering. We can also open up career opportunities in the oil and natural gas industry with Gas Engineering and Management or Petroleum and Gas Engineering - developed as one of the first postgraduate courses of its kind in the UK.

Create a Better Sounding World

For over 60 years, Salford has pioneered the study, research and commercial work of acoustics, audio and vibration. Our Audio Acoustics course is designed to equip sound engineering graduates and professionals with capabilities to lead audio technology design and application.

With a growing need for engineers who can control and mitigate noise, our Environmental Acoustics course is a recommended route for science or technology graduates seeking to move their careers in acoustic and audio consultancy practice or research.

Be Ready for Integrated Robotics

As a National Advanced Robotics Research Centre since 1987, Salford is equipped to teach, test and research the application of robotics and artificial intelligence. In 2018, we became one of the first UK universities with our own connected autonomous vehicle running on campus.

We offer specialist postgraduate programmes in Robotics and Automation and Advanced Control Systems that are connected to innovative University research pioneering the integration of robotics to support manufacturing, assisted healthcare and intelligent mobility.

Take a Flexible Route To Study

Right now, we understated that you might be seeking flexibility amidst all the uncertainty. If you’re thinking about balancing work and postgraduate study, we offer part-time study pathways across many of our engineering-based courses, so you can achieve your learning goals, keep your current commitments and engineer a better future for everyone.
