You’ll explore world literature in English. Studying a wealth of works from drama and literature, to lyric poetry, and the literature and performance of New York, Paris, Berlin, Vienna, Moscow and London, there is something for all literature lovers!
We embrace U.S literature, Caribbean literatures and African American literature. Focusing on topics such as reality and the “American Dream”, the influence of violence and conflict in the American tropics on literature, and how cultural geography has been integrated into literary history.
We emphasis innovation and experimentation in creative practice. You’ll expand your use of creative writing techniques and hone your critical judgement of your own work. We host two Royal Literary Fund Fellows who meet with you one-to-one to offer valuable feedback and development opportunities.
You’ll explore the wild landscapes of Britain and beyond, gain an understanding of environmental challenges and step beyond the seminar room and into the inspiring wild spaces East Anglia has to offer. We blend creativity with science, as you explore ecocriticism and develop your creative writing practice.

If you’re passionate about performing arts, playwriting, directing and devising, MA Theatre Practice is the creative and versatile degree for you.
You’ll explore processes of theatre-making, delve into performance traditions and develop a deeper understanding of the theatrical world within your chosen area: acting; applied theatre; devising; directing and playwriting.
You’ll benefit from led masterclasses, take advantage of professional-standard film screening and editing facilities and gain knowledge in independent filmmaking practice. Our course will take you beyond Hollywood, by developing skills in both film production and analysis though critical appraisal.
