A centre for collaboration

Collaboration is at the heart of the built environment and we’ve strived to embed this in our postgraduate courses. With over 800 postgraduates, and over 200 PhD researchers, from across the world, our rich community works with industry across all levels of study and research.

Many of our built environment postgraduate courses are developed with architecture, engineering and construction-based employers, and accredited by industry bodies and, including RICS, CIOB and ARB. These strong links ensure a stimulating range of guest lecturers and networking opportunities – all situated in one of the largest construction markets outside of London.

Salford is also home to Energy House – the only fully climate-controlled research facility of its kind in the world. This full-sized, furnished, two-bedroom terraced house, packed with sensors, is based inside an environmental chamber that can replicate almost any weather conditions.
