Salford is one of the UK’s leading centres for audio and acoustics. For over 60 years, our researchers and alumni have set international noise legislation and been at the heart of many of the world’s leading sound and acoustics-focused companies and organisations.

The University is part of the new Greater Manchester Cyber Foundry, the region’s blueprint to be a global leader in cyber and digital research and intelligence, which has seen GCHQ open operations in Manchester.

A National Advanced Robotics Research Centre since 1987, Salford is equipped with advanced, specialist aeronautics, robotics and control systems facilities. Our pioneering robotics research centre is leading advanced testing of applied robotics and artificial intelligence.

In 2018, Salford become of the first UK universities with its own connected autonomous vehicle (CAV) running on campus. We’re also the first UK university to offer a dedicated postgraduate degree in autonomous and automated vehicles, leading the way towards future mobility.
