At the University of Sussex’s School of Life Sciences we pride ourselves on our world-leading and interdisciplinary research and teaching. We strive to engage with real world problems in fields as varied as cancer biology, drug discovery, neuroscience and biodiversity. Our teaching is strongly research-led and focused on developing the skills needed by the next generation of scientists and innovators.
This MSc will equip you with a detailed understanding of the molecular basis and cell biology of cancer, and you’ll learn from research scientists at the forefront of cancer research and cancer therapy design.
This MSc will give you the training necessary to become an active and engaged researcher in this field. You'll research real biological problems in a research-active laboratory, and will benefit from our state-of-the-art facilities, including the Sussex Centre for Advanced Microscopy.
This MSc will give you a global outlook on conservation, and the positive approaches conservation biologists can take to a solve the challenges of change in the modern world. You’ll be in a strong position to continue on to a career in conservation, and you’ll and have the chance to take part in unique research in the field.
With over 50 research groups on campus, Sussex Neuroscience is one of the largest and most interconnected neuroscience communities in the UK. Our expertise includes sensory processing, computational neuroscience, psychobiology and neurodegeneration. The practical research project will give you valuable experience for a career in neuroscience.
This MRes is ideal for you if you have a strong academic record in neuroscience and plan to pursue a research career. With over 50 research groups on campus, Sussex Neuroscience is one of the largest and most interconnected neuroscience communities in the UK. Our expertise includes sensory processing, computational neuroscience, psychobiology and neurodegeneration.
This MRes will enable you to understand the causes, effects and ultimate explanations for the evolution of animal behaviour. You’ll develop an advanced knowledge and practical research skills in animal behaviour, which will put you in a strong position to move on to a PhD or a research career.
This MRes will give you an advanced, global outlook on conservation. You’ll develop research skills and learn positive approaches that will enable you to address the environmental changes facing us today. The degree will enable you to move on to a PhD, as well as providing you with the knowledge and skills required for a career in conservation biology.
This MRes is based on our strengths in evolutionary biology. You’ll study how and why organisms are the way they are, and how this affects fundamental parts of our lives. You’ll become a researcher who can contribute to the grand challenges of antibiotic resistance, cancer and environmental change.
