We've been helping students find the right postgraduate course for over a decade.
Established over 50 years ago, we were the first department of Organizational Psychology in the UK – and we remain one of just a few departments in the country focusing on this area.
As well as offering the original MSc in Organizational Psychology, we were among the first in the UK to combine online and face-to-face learning. We continue to be a leading, renowned centre of research and teaching.
At the heart of our research is the desire to understand the psychology of people at work and how organisations and businesses change. We focus on innovative, world-shaping research, and this informs the postgraduate programmes of study that we offer.
Around 80% of the students who come to the Department of Organizational Psychology at Birkbeck have been recommended to do so by someone who has previously studied here – a testament to the quality of our teaching.
Join our supportive community of active learners, and develop your passion for this field of study.
Our staff are experts in several research areas and methods across the disciplines of Organizational Psychology/Behaviour, Organizational Study, Human Resource Management and Business Psychology.
Actively engaged in their own research, with academic and professional contacts and connections around the globe, they also provide skilled teaching, supervision and support to their students.
We are research-driven, leading the field in creating new knowledge and pushing boundaries in a wide range of specialist academic areas. We have contributed to theory development in a range of areas, from age and disability at work to wellbeing and work-life balance.
Our research projects are supported by funding from a range of public and private sources, including the Home Office, the NHS and the British Academy. We also publish extensively in both academic and practitioner outlets.
We offer something different from other universities: all of our classes take place between 6pm and 9pm, leaving you free to fill your days as you wish. If you need to work while you study, that’s no problem at Birkbeck. We are London’s only specialist provider of evening higher education.
A qualification from Birkbeck is also a qualification from the prestigious and internationally-respected University of London.
Based in beautiful and historic Bloomsbury, Birkbeck’s stunning London location is one more perk of studying with us.
The main building on Malet Street houses Birkbeck’s richly-resourced library which spans over five floors. As we’re a part of the University of London, you will also benefit from access to all University of London shared facilities – including a large range of libraries and study spaces.
