Opportunities for a better future

The University of Edinburgh is ranked 18th in the world (QS global rankings, 2019) and graduates from our programmes are highly sought after.

The School of GeoSciences

At the School of GeoSciences, we examine the interactions between the Earth’s geology, atmosphere, oceans and life, as well as considering our own role and impact on our planet.

The effect of these complex relationships is vitally important to our world’s future, which means the skills and knowledge you will develop as a postgraduate student will put you in an exceptional position to help make that future better.

We are the largest and most successful interdisciplinary grouping of geoscientists and geographers in the UK, with around 400 academic and research staff. You will be uniquely placed to benefit from the latest research and industry practice which our staff will bring to your learning experience.

Our mission is to inspire, challenge and excite you to learn and think about how the Earth works, it’s evolution and how it impacts on the prosperity and wellbeing of humankind.
