We've been helping students find the right postgraduate course for over a decade.
Founded by Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Boston University in 1987, Vesalius College is an accredited higher education institution offering undergraduate, graduate and executive programmes in English to students from over 60 nationalities who strive for international education and careers.
Constitutive of our identity are an international and interdisciplinary mindset and the pursuit of excellence in teaching, practice and research. Located in the heart of Europe, the College offers a truly unique educational experience with excellent learning and networking opportunities which enables students to gain knowledge, skills, and experience, preparing them to play an active and leading role in the globalised world.
Vesalius College offers two interdisciplinary MA programmes in close collaboration with senior officials from major international organizations and in partnership with leading think tanks. These two one-year programmes are taught by an outstanding international network of leading scholars and senior practitioners, and will provide students with unique conceptual and theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on practical skills.
*Students earn 90 ECTS in one year, with a 120 ECTS option in 16-month, full time and part time.
With its strong links to the policy-making world and university/think tank partners in Brussels, wider Europe, the US and around the globe, the programme offers students a truly global and transatlantic exchange between theory and practice. Major scholars, think tanks, founders of the discipline of peace studies and senior strategists in security studies (including NATO specialists, the Royal Military Academy of Belgium and the Egmont Institute) are brought together in the partnership circle, advisory board and faculty of this programme to allow for a critical and balanced exchange between the perspectives. Graduates of this programme will be equipped to extract the insights, advantages and limitations of these perspectives and approaches to global peace, security and strategy.
This unique one-year Master’s programme (possibility of part-time modus) provides students and professionals with comprehensive knowledge and policy-oriented skills at the intersection of diplomacy and global governance. We face a permanent challenge to govern ourselves beyond the territory of the nation state, and hence face the importance of understanding the expectations and limits of global governance and diplomatic skills. The degree is designed and taught by a network of leading international academics from top universities and think tanks as well as senior policy-makers from international organisations, and provides both theoretical foundations and practical skill-sets for students interested in international careers in diplomacy, government, international organisations, think tanks and NGOs.
