This programme offers a broad range of courses to choose from. You can specialise in one of the areas of philosophy where we have particular strength or keep your studies general.
Philosophy at Edinburgh is well-known for its research strengths in Epistemology, Ethics and Meta-Ethics, and Mind and Cognition. We have also recently developed new areas of specialism, in particular Gender and Race, Medical Ethics, and Enlightenment Philosophy.
This unique interdisciplinary programme examines the wide landscape of issues that arise where philosophy of mind meets the study of psychology, linguistics and cognitive science.
This programme provides a thorough grounding in contemporary philosophy, with an emphasis on some of Edinburgh’s strengths: epistemology, ethics, mind and cognitive science.
This programme, co-taught by the department of Philosophy and the School of Divinity, offers a unique interdisciplinary degree in philosophy, science, and religion. How can we make sense of what science, religion, and philosophy tell us, for example, about the origin of the universe, the place of minds in a material world, determinism and freedom? In this programme you will learn how to investigate these and similar questions from a variety of perspectives.
