2-year master's programme provides thorough knowledge and skills in the areas of laboratory and technological measurements, testing and chemical analysis methods, quality systems, metrology and related economic and legal aspects. Studies are carried out in the “Physicum” and “Chemicum” buildings in Tartu – among the top research and education facilities in Northern Europe.
Master's programme in Applied Physics is aimed for those who are interested in innovative engineering in design and application companies. Programme provides interdisciplinary education covering engineering, physics, and math in an effort to bridge the gap between theoretical science and practical engineering. Studies cover a wide spectrum of topics: nanotechnology, quantum topics, solar cells, experimental solid state physics and econophysics. Additionally it is possible to opt for more theoretical projects, such as computer simulation of physical systems, modeling of turbulence and complex systems (e.g. biological or social networks).
The graduates of the programme have skills applicable in a broad sphere, such as engineers or project managers in high-tech startup companies or well-established companies in the field of energy, nanotechnology, data mining, measuring laboratories etc.
This programme aims to provide students with knowledge and skills in the key aspects of communication, semiconductor, medical and embedded electronics. Students can specialise in either communications electronics (embedded systems, networking, etc.) or cognitive electronics (sensors, sensor networks, medical diagnostics, measurement systems). The programme is supported by the ELIKO Competence Centre and the CEBE Centre of Excellence.
The students also have a chance to take part in significant research projects (e.g. implantable devices for cardiac monitors, sensors and monitors for transplanted organs and tissues, material quality measurement systems, smart home and city systems).
The research and study areas are situated in modern facilities and are equipped with modern computers, software, measurement equipment and tools that provide excellent opportunities for the students to either study or conduct research. All students of the IT-field are offered practical placement and job opportunities in Estonia or abroad already during the studies which provides professional experience in the field.
The programme provides the specialist knowledge and skills needed for a career leading to high-end technical or technology roles in communicative electronics. Possible future work positions include: designer of computer or automation systems and components, designer of electronics, monitoring and communication systems and their components, senior engineer, hardware developer, project manager, software engineer, etc.

The Computer and Systems Engineering Master's programme focuses on the education of designing and using modern complex computer systems. Nowadays computer systems are used more or less everywhere, they are extremely diverse and most of them are "invisible" to users. Such systems include not only traditional PC-s and sophisticated supercomputers, but also computer systems "embedded" into cars and mobile phones, for instance. Most of these computers are interconnected via various wired and wireless networks and do not work in isolation. These embedded systems can be either stand-alone items or an integral part of a larger system and represent the combination of software and hardware designed to perform specific functions.
When studying the Computer and Engineering Systems programme, students are exposed to systems design and modelling, computer architectures and programming, to name few of the topics. Exposure to those topics will position students well for jobs at small, medium and large companies. Their jobs will involve defining, designing and using embedded computer system in areas such as automotive electronics, consumer devices, telecommunications, etc.
The Computer and Systems Engineering programme is supervised by two departments of TUT - Department of Computer Engineering (DCE) and Department of Computer Control (DCC). Students can choose between two of the following specialisations:
Faculty of Information Technology (founded in 1965) trains specialists in the main fields of information and communications technology (ICT) at bachelor, master and doctoral level. High-quality knowledge based teaching and training is based on international research and development activities, and tight cooperation with ICT industry.
There are more than 2100 students annually learning in the faculty, which employs 150 faculty members, lecturers, researchers and engineers.
Graduates find employment as specialists in the design, realisation, application and administration of computerised equipment and systems. Career opportunities are varied: computer and software companies; banks; diagnostic systems in manufacturing, service, medicine; "smart" houses and manufacturing systems; industrial automation; management control and monitoring systems in air, water and ground based transport, etc. Master’s degree holders interested in high-level research work and university staff positions have the opportunity to continue their studies in the PhD programme.

The international Master's programme with three main specialties - Cyber Security, Digital Forensics and Cryptography - provides students with core skills in wide aspects of the security of information systems and specialized skills in the chosen specialization. Students get a unique chance to study under high-level cyber security practitioners from Estonian banks, telecoms, law enforcement, CERT and the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence.
The programme is taught jointly by the two largest public universities in Estonia. The Cyber Security and Digital Forensics studies are concentrated in Tallinn, while Cryptography specialization is concentrated in Tartu. Upon successful completion of the programme students will receive a joint degree signed by both universities - Tallinn University of Technology and University of Tartu.

Digital forensics is a branch of forensic science encompassing the recovery and investigation of material found in digital devices, often in relation to computer crime. The area is becoming critical for both data security and law enforcement and is involved in a complicated interplay between surveillance and counter-surveillance issues.
An emphasis on product and process technology alone is seen as insufficient for business success. Technological competence needs to be combined with a deep understanding of users, the social and cultural context of use, as well as the utilisation of design in the creation of meaningful and sustainable solutions.
The Design and Engineering multi-disciplinary programme is created with the purpose of combining the rigor of technical development and the honing of engineering competence with the creative, inspirational and communicative power of design. Besides the two core study areas of design and engineering, students will get a firm understanding of the contemporary entrepreneurial world.

Master's Programme in Design and Engineering has been established by two Estonian leading Educational Centers of Excellence: Tallinn University of Technology and Estonian Academy of Arts, in order to meet current demands in cross-disciplinary professionals.
The aim of the curriculum is to combine the basic competences of engineers and designers to develop the framework for a strong interdisciplinary cooperation. Estonia’s e-government and the country’s other innovative e-solutions have grown into one of Europe’s success stories of the last decade. Tallinn Tech has taken a leap into the future of e-Governance education. Largely focusing on IT solutions at government level, its interoperability between different faculties in the University is giving fundamental background also in other aspects (law, public management and economics) of government. The program is especially important due to the reason that it is unique in Estonia and in Europe and the demand for the specialist with broad knowledge on e-governance is increasing tremendously.
The Master’s programme in e-Governance Technologies and Services is giving students broad knowledge about the makings of a modern state – the transition into e-governance, its management and development. Studies include a wider overview of administrative and legal aspects of e-governance.
The curriculum will help to prepare managers and specialists responsible for the development of e-Governance, who are able to comprehend the business processes and the management of public administration; and are familiar with the information systems and software development.
Giving student’s a broad knowledge about the transition into e-governance, its management and development, helps graduates to work as a public sector high level officials whilst leading eGov projects by having also a wider overview of administrative and legal aspects of e-governance.

The goal of the programme is to educate managers who not only understand all aspects of the environmental industry, but who are also skilled in critical thinking and problem solving, and are able to plan, implement and control all facets of environmental management.
