Masters degrees in Environmental Health provide training in the skills needed to monitor and evaluate health hazards across various sectors, as well as how to plan and manage public health programmes.
Related subjects include Applied Public Health and Environmental Health & Safety Management. Entry requirements typically include an appropriate undergraduate degree such as Environmental Science or Business Management. MScs are probably the most common form of Environmental Health qualification, but Postgraduate Diplomas and Certificates are also available.
By implementing good Environmental Health practices, you’ll help ensure the safety of a range of industrial activities, working environments and natural surroundings.
You might gear your studies towards improving public health in several ways, including policy-making for housing standards or the regulation of food quality. This could mean assessing the facilities and products that the public use, or analysing the security and condition of food sources.
You might also explore areas of occupational health and safety, ensuring working environments are free from hazards and adhere to safety policy. Other careers may include environmental protection, whether for animal protection or the management of natural water resources, to give a couple of examples.
