Masters degrees in Domestic Management provide training in the specific management techniques required for a variety of care homes, including those for children or for the elderly or infirm.
You do not necessarily have to come from a background in caring in order to apply, but an undergraduate degree in Nursing or Administration would be advantageous.
Postgraduate degrees in Domestic Management give consideration to both the social care and administrative aspects of care home management. This includes understanding care home logistics such as procuring and managing staff, managing budgets, and auditing services.
You will also be provided with training in handling care plans for individual clients, working with families and liaising with consultants in order to provide the best facilities and quality of care.
There is also scope to train in management for specific types of care homes. For example, you may specialise in the care of children from abusive backgrounds, or opt to work with adults with disabilities.
With your experience, you could undertake managerial positions within smaller, independent care homes, or take on executive roles for larger care providers.
This is a 12 month intensive programme to convert you to be able to practice in Real Estate management. Any degree discipline will be considered. The programme has been running for over 20 years at Aberdeen and it is a programme for which Aberdeen is highly regarded internationally. You are taught from our strengths which lie in property valuation, investment, economics and finance.
You learn a considerable amount about real estate management including legal considerations, economics, investment and development, and analysis. This programme is ideal for students from the UK however we also provide an international pathway programme for international students and those wishing to pursue global interests. You are taught by the Global Real Estate Group at Aberdeen. Careers can be wide and varied including surveying, investment and property valuation, planning development and property management and others. Many of our graduates work in the city in London and other UK cities in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester and so on. Many work with local practices in the UK.
We support you further with talks from industry professionals to find out what it is like to practice in real estate and answer your questions. We go to 'site visits' and we give you project work from industry to help you get real skills and application at the start. You will get plenty of vocational and academic experience to ensure you have the robust skills necessary for the fascinating environment of Real Estate.
