Istituto Europeo di Design was founded in 1966, product of the remarkable vision of Francesco Morelli. Today IED is the only Higher Education Institution in the creative field to have maintained a completely Italian identity over time.
IED is an internationally recognised network consisting of 11 sites, 6 of which in Italy - Milan, Cagliari, Florence, Rome, Turin and Accademia A. Galli in Como- 3 in Spain - Barcelona, Madrid and Bilbao - and 2 in Brazil - Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
Every year IED launches innovative training projects in the fields of Design, Fashion, Visual Arts and Communication, developing new forms of learning and designing new models for interpreting the future.
IED student training experience is based on the educational concept according to which knowledge and know-how must grow together. A simple and effective idea that distinguishes the entire educational path: training students by combining theory and practice, beginning with the knowledge brought to the classroom by industry professionals and by the research requirements of partner companies.
Today IED is committed to ensuring that its students will be the future new interpreters of the universal language of design, professionals able to decipher new complexities and, interacting with all disciplines, identify solutions to enhance the quality of human life.
IED courses are recognized by the Ministries of Education and of Research in the countries where IED operates directly.
IED educational offer includes: Undergraduate courses (First Level Academic Diplomas, Titulo Superior en Diseño, Diploma de Bacharelado, BAH Diplomas and IED Diplomas) Postgraduate courses (First Level Master’s and IED Master’s courses) and Continuous Training courses.
In Italy IED is a Higher Education Institution in the creative field authorised by the Italian Ministry of Education University and Research (MIUR) to award AFAM (Higher Education in Art Music and Dance) diplomas.
Its courses consist of Undergraduate programmes - comprising three-year First Level Academic Diplomas and IED Diplomas of 2 and 3 years - and Postgraduate programmes consisting of First Level Master’s courses and IED Master’s courses. Both of these levels are supplemented with Continuous Training courses.
The range of training courses is completed by the educational offer of the Accademia Aldo Galli - IED Como whose course on the restoration and conservation of cultural heritage is endorsed by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and by the MIUR.
In Spain IED is recognised as a Private Higher Education Design Institute which offers recognised undergraduate courses (BA Hons of 4 years at the end of which the student is awarded the qualification Grado en Diseño), courses with its own names of 1, 2 and 3 years, Master’s courses, specialisation and summer courses.
In Brazil, in Sao Paolo all university courses are regulated by the guidelines of the Ministry of Education/MEC. IED Sao Paolo offers recognised Undergraduate courses (BA courses of 3 years at the end of which the qualification of Diploma de Bacharelado is awarded), Master’s courses, Annual, summer and specialisation courses.
