Research With a Real Impact

In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), over 91% of our Faculty’s submission to the assessment, over 8 units, was classed as either ‘internationally excellent’ or ‘world-leading’.

Chemistry – Although it is a new department with environment actively being built, we are delighted to achieve 97.9% world-leading and internationally excellent research publication ratings. We will continue to build on these fantastic results and look forward to growing our department within the excellent Swansea environment.

Engineering – Working with colleagues on the new Bay Campus with outstanding research facilities led to 100% world-leading and internationally excellent environment, and the world-leading component of our publications has increased to over 25%.

Sports Science – We are delighted to have achieved 100% world-leading and internationally excellent impact, showing the depth and breadth of our research. Our environment, underpinned by the Bay campus ecosystem and working with colleagues across disciplines has accomplished 100% world-leading and internationally excellent recognition.
