Our Research Impact

In the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021), over 91% of our Faculty’s submission to the assessment, over 8 units, was classed as either ‘internationally excellent’ or ‘world-leading'.

Mathematical Sciences – We are delighted to have achieved 100% world-leading and internationally excellent ratings in impact, showing that we as a department are dedicated to embedding real-world impact in everything we do. 90% of our research is world-leading and internationally excellent, with an increase in number of our world-leading publications.

Computer Science – We are delighted to have achieved 100% world-leading impact, showing that mathematics has a real and lasting impact in day-to-day life. Our research facilities and environment have enabled colleagues to engage internationally, elevating 100% of the department’s publications to world-leading and internationally excellent.
