Substantial work experience may be accepted in some cases.

Why study a Masters in Crafts?

## Widely centred on improving professional development, these courses will encourage you to develop your own craft, and explore theoretical and practical approaches to evolving contemporary crafts. From metal and jewellery design, to clothing and textiles, there are many options for you to apply your expertise. Theory will examine the industry in relation to craft organisations and artists, their histories and cultural practices and influences. Particularly, you will examine artefacts, research archives and analyse curatorial practice. Practical experience is usually attained through a professional placement, or substantial independent research project to curate an event or exhibition of contemporary craft work. Roles in this field are highly varied. You may opt to work as an independent contemporary craft practitioner, or join a collective of practitioners through an agency or guild.
