Covering historical and philosophical bases of theatre and performance practices from different parts of the world, on this degree you'll investigate indigenous and contemporary performance and theatre traditions from a variety of cultural contexts- http://www.gold.ac.uk/pg/ma-world-theatres/

The MA in World Theatres is one of the few freestanding taught Masters programmes in world theatres and performance in the UK and globally.

The programme aims to train graduates for professional employment in a range of positions in theatre, in government settings, in HE internationally and in the culture sector that requires solid intellectual preparation and knowledge of the field. Practitioners who come on the programme can use knowledge acquired to extend the articulation of their career.

Our location in London means that you'll be close to the one of the largest concentrations of performance practice in Europe.

And the Department of Theatre and Performance’s intercultural and interdisciplinary ethos has led to key international relationships, including with LIFT (London International Festival of Theatre), the large scale biennale international theatre festival, with on-going intercultural projects in London on a constant basis. LIFT is one of our Associate Organisations, which promises to provide a special opportunity for our MA sudents in the form of:

-placement opportunities
-participation in LIFT projects
-the introduction of visiting artists and companies to the department

In addition, three other new key Associate Organisations will provide additional collaborative opportunities for students on this programme:

-ArtsAdmin Toynbee Studios, a vital hub of international artist exchange, promotion, producing and management
-Battersea Arts Centre, a key venue in South East London that provides a springboard to support new and emerging practice
-The Albany in nearby Deptford, will support the development of opportunities for this programme
