This Master's degree is designed for students who wish to practice across a broad range environmental engineering and apply new sustainable risk management strategies for complex environmental problems. Water, waste and environmental engineering has been traditionally referred to as public health engineering in the United Kingdom.
In this postgraduate course, the technical aspects of both natural and engineering environmental systems will be covered. There will be broad interdisciplinary subjects synthesizing knowledge from a wide spectrum of science and engineering, expanding the content of public health engineering, which in the UK has traditionally been responsible for developing the infrastructure for managing water and waste.

An appropriate recognised bachelor's degree 2.2 or above in engineering (civil, chemical, mechanical, environmental, industrial and agricultural) and/or natural and physical sciences or an equivalent qualification.
Students without a first degree, but with professional and vocational experience (e.g. incorporated engineer, chartered scientist or chartered environmentalist status) may be considered if they demonstrate the potential to succeed on the programme.

Our Medway Campus in Chatham Maritime, Kent is home to our Faculty of Engineering and Science. The Campus boasts teaching and living spaces within a few minutes’ walk from each other. There are industry-standard labs for science, engineering, pharmacy and natural resources, as well as a huge library and The Deep End, a £4.6-million social and entertainment space.
Across the road from the campus is a retail park with a nine-screen cinema, bars, restaurants and outlet stores. The campus is about 30 miles from central London, and it has a dedicated university bus service to the other two campuses in London.
