Course content

The VITA course offers a unique opportunity to study both the theory and practice of the Visual Islamic and traditional arts at MA, MPhil or PhD level (courses validated by the University of Wales). The course work is supported by first hand experience of the traditional arts through working sessions with traditional artists and craftsmen. Students are encouraged to pursue their own particular skills - whether it be painting, woodcarving, jewellery, textiles, stained glass, ceramics etc, at the same time as attending classes in geometry, methods & materials, icon & miniature painting, clay craft, mosaic, woodwork, calligraphy, arabesque and others.
