About the course

Fully accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), our Urban and Regional Planning MSc is designed to develop students as reflective practitioners in the planning profession and related disciplines in the built environment.

We are delighted to announce that applicants to our MSc Urban and Regional Planning are eligible for the RTPI Future Planners Bursaries for the 2024-25 academic year.  The bursaries are worth up to £5,000 each and will be awarded subject to a competitive process run by the RTPI. To be eligible you must have already submitted an application to study on our programme.  Further information about the bursary, its eligibility criteria and the application process is available on the

Entry Requirements

The normal admission requirement for our taught postgraduate programmes is a 2:1 Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. For a Graduate Diploma you should have a degree or diploma or equivalent qualification in an appropriate field. Graduate Diploma students who achieve Masters level in their modules may be transferred to the Masters level.

Charles studied BA Joint Honours History and Geography here at Birmingham. After thoroughly enjoying planning modules at undergraduate level, he decided to continue with a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning. He hopes to pursue a career in the planning field or in education after graduation.
